I have DMS4 E.Z.I Pro, and I use ToxicBIOS 1.3.
I was wondering how do I use its flash memory?
I downloaded PS2Reality MediaPlayer and burned it to disc.
But this way I have to put it in every time I want to see a movie/ listen to music.
How can I flash it to the flash memory of the chip so it will boot up without the disc?
Thanx in advance.

i believe the creators of PS2Reality might have put some sort of block on the DMS chips...

Huh?
so I will have to swap the disks till the end of time?
Ok so if not PS2reality mediaplayer then the SMS. I still want to know how this process goes. I want to know how I can upload homebrew to the chip flash memory.

nah nah..
you cant put programs onto the DMS4 flash yet. this feature will be introduced in ToxicOS 0.4.
you need to copy the program (ps2reality or sms) to a memory card, usb key, or hard drive to use it.
i reccomend using LaunchELF as your DEV 1 booting mode.
do a forum search about this. what you are asking is pretty basic ps2 homebrew functionality.

LaunchELF is a file manager, like windows explorer. you can run programs on many mediums including memory card.
you might want to try posting in the launchelf forums, located at http://www.ps2-scene.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=113

Ok thanks for the help for now. I learned how to use uLunchElf.
I tried to copy the lunch elf itself to the memory card and boot it from it so I will not have to switch disks. But this aint working.
I dont understand what I am doing wrong. I tried installing DMS MC browser and it lunches fine from the memory card (I am holding triangle when PS2 boots, to lunch the memory card app, using ToxicBIOS 1.3).
Please help again.
EDIT:
YEA!!! AT last my stupidy made it! but not fully.
I understand that in order to lunch the dev.olution I need to have a file called:
/boot/boot.elf
The problem is that I cannot name it that way (the "/" is illigal in windows file names). I also cant rename using the uLunchElf.
Last help :D

u could use EXECFtp to install the BOOT.ELF on your memcard...
matrix infinity has it easy, just burn a cd with the elf on it, and change the 'INSTALL.CNF file with notepad like this... "/" or "\" are only illigal in foldernames...
HDLoader
mc0:\BOOT\BOOT.ELF
MD mc0:\BOOT
CP cdrom0:\BOOT.ELF;1 mc0:\BOOT\BOOT.ELF
pop it in ur ps2, open the Ã*nstall menu and it will copy it to your memcard. when u call your program BOOT.ELF, it will automaticly boot while u press a button.
maybe it works the same ?
but u can find all this on there site ór there forum...

Ist theres a way to rename the PS2Reality.elf into /boot/boot.elf, WITHOUT HDD?
Or to make it work withought renaming it. In a MC dev.olution 1?
Help... ":(

sure
but DEV1 mode ONLY works if u rename it to BOOT.ELF. And what is so hard about renaming a file  ?
here is a quote from the DMSsite...
Boot Modes for DMS4
-> Dev.olution mode
Using Dev.olution mode you can boot applications from either the memory card or hard disk drive. When booting in MC Dev.olution mode, the ELF file "mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF" is launched. This ELF file can be anything you want, such as DMS Explorer, PS2Menu, PS2OS etc. To boot in MC Dev.olution mode either hold down TRIANGLE on controller 1 while the PS2 is booting, or set default boot mode to MC Dev.olution in the configuration menu. Currently the only application which can be launched with HDD Dev.olution mode is DMS HDD Explorer. Once HDD Explorer is installed, you may boot in HDD Dev.olution mode by either holding down START on controller 1 while the PS2 is booting, or set default boot mode to HDD Dev.olution in the configuration menu.
In my opinion this just means that:
1. U pick any ELF file of your wish.
2. Rename it to 'BOOT.ELF'
3. Put it in here: 'mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF'
Use EXECFtp to connect to your PS2,(ucan find out how to do that on this forum)
then just make a folder called 'BOOT' in your 'mc0' directory and in that 'BOOT' folder u place any ELF file in there after u renamed it to 'BOOT.ELF...
and that crap about illegal characters...u dont need to use '/' or '\' in any folder name or whatever during this action... :banghead:

That the whole problem.
You see, I renamed it to boot.elf and copied to a cd, then to the memory card using ulunchelf. uLunchElf cannot rename files on memory cards.
The problem is that it aint working.
So I take a problem that works this way (DMS explorer).
I instull it and using the uLunchElf program I went to see what files it created. (Because I can use it with MC dev).
There are 3 files:
/BOOT/BOOT.ELF (ITS A FILE! not a directory)
/BOOT\ (Directory)
and another file that I dont remember.
I tried deleting the 2 files and leaving the /boot/boot.elf
and i managed to lunch it.
So I thought that if I will rename the maida play into a /boot/boot.elf it will work (since BOOT.ELF aint working for some reason), that why I wanted something that can rename the file into /boot/boot.elf since I cannot do it in windows.

TheBigL please check your pm! http://www.ps2-scene.org/forums/private.php?
forget about dms explorer..
time to start fresh!!
make a cd with LaunchELF and SYSTEM.CNF on it.
launchelf needs to be renamed to BOOT.ELF, and SYSTEM.CNF is a text file with these three lines
BOOT2 = cdrom0:\BOOT.ELF;1
VER = 1.00
VMODE = NTSC
burn the cd and boot it on your ps2.
browse to mc0
delete any BOOT related folders (you may have \BOOT or \BOOT\BOOT.ELF)
then make a new folder called BOOT
browse to cdfs, copy BOOT.ELF from the cd to the BOOT folder you made on mc0.
reboot your ps2 holding triangle and launchelf should boot from mc
-------------
as for your questions on \ and /,
on the ps2 memory card \ is considered a normal character,
and
/ is considered a namespace separator.
for example, lets imagine we made this string on the ps2
mc0:\BOOT\BOOT.ELF
the file \BOOT\BOOT.ELF would be copied to mc0:
again, lets imagine e made this string on the ps2
mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
the file BOOT.ELF would be copied into the folder BOOT which resides in the root directory (/) on the medium mc0:
HOWEVER...
on CDROM, the \ character is a namespace separator.
so, for example the string
cdrom0:\BOOT\BOOT.ELF
refers to a file named BOOT.ELF residing on the folder BOOT on the root directory of cdrom0.
this is where people get mixed up between memory card and cdrom!
i hope this clears some things up!
-----------------------
now, lets relate this back to your problem with DEV mode.
back when dev mode was being designed by the dms team, the way programs should be installed was debated.
to cut a long story short, the chip will boot from mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF OR mc0:\BOOT\BOOT.ELF
but, you should use the proper way, mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF. ie, BOOT.ELF inside the BOOT directory on the root of mc0.
