Hi there,

I have just recently modded my PStwo V12 PAL console with a Matrix Infinity. After installing the chip the console boots up with a Matrix logo and I am able to access the chips menu via triangle/circle.
PAL originals work just fine and when booting a dvd game the Infinity version number is shown below the Playstation logo. Disabling the chip via START also works like a charm. One more word to the console: I have applied the Summone fix and the drive and laser are in perfect condition.

But the big problem is - after flashing the Infinity to version 1.54 I was able to play import games (Cold Winter, US version). The game was just recognized in auto boot mode and started. When I turned on the PStwo later to play another round, no more imports were started - I always get the red screen of death, no matter which boot mode I try. PAL games work still fine.

My first thought was a bad solder so I checked the wiring but everything seems to be just fine. I have used thicker wires for ground and 3.3v and kept especially these two wires really short. All other wires ar 10 cm or shorter as it was not possible to place the chip more central within the confinded spaces of the board and shielding.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem? I would be really greatful for any hints that might help solve this problem. BTW - all games mentioned before are originals, no badly burned copies on cheap media.

Thanks for your help.

Hey!!! Since everything works (menu, and such) your problem is most likely on the DVD points. Resolder I,G,H and those points around those points. Should be 3-4 of them. Ive experienced 2 times that i need to attach the H wire on PAL with matrix infinity, though the diagrams says its not needed.

Check those wires and i bet it will work. Just resolder them, maybe its a dead solder point.

Hi,

thank you for your fast help. After replacing the dvd wires (resoldering curiously did not work although regarding to my multimeter the wires were okay) the Matrix Infinity is now fully functional. Import gaming, I am finally back! :) Haven't touched any imports on PS2 since my good old V3 died of old age a few month ago...

BTW - nice avatar :)

Greetings
