I installed xbox modchips, but no ps2 yet.
I heard that a 0.1 tip soldering Iron is recommended. I used a 0.5mm 11W soldering iron till now, with good results.
I plan get an ANTES soldering iron with 0.1 tip because I read many people saying it's good one.
Is it this one??

This tip is 0.1mm

The Antex iron is great. The tip's I use are these ones http://www.mmnewman.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=128&fs=1&pfs=1&catid=20 . The one you linked is an unplated one which I find get eaten up too quickly. I bought a few of those and a few plated ones and my plated ones are still around while the unplated ones are long gone. As for 0.1 mm, I've never seen Antex tips that small. The smallest I've seen and bought are 1/64" which is around 0.3 mm.

the tip I linked above is 0.12 mm.
Many people recommend using 0.12mm tips for modchip installation. Also, I can't find any other antex tip appart from this 0.12mm unplated, the next one is 0.5mm. I already own a good siron with 0.5mm tip, but I find this tip insufficient to solder to IC legs (I think it is the dvd controller?)

there are not 1/64" tips in the official website...
I see only 0.12mm and then 0.5 and up...

I'm using Antex C15, a 15W soldering iron with 0.12mm and 1.0mm tip.

The problem about the 0.12mm tip is that it gets eaten very quickly as I heard..
Official website does not mention other tips appart from 0.12 and 0.5 and up...
Would a 18W antex iron be ok ?? Or better a 15W ?

I read that a 18W ANTEX iron can be as powerful as a standar 25W iron.
If this is true, maybe it is too much power for this kind of soldering job??

I'd say 25W is in the general range of acceptable power for PCB work; I've heard of people using wattages as high as 45W successfully, but that's with a lot of practice. 25 might be a bit on the hot side if your technique is poor; guides usually recommend 12-15W because it's less likely that you'll do serious damage with it unless you're really reckless. More power demands more control, but there's not really a specific limit as such.

I have switched to 18w and 0.12 tip now. But i think the 0.12 tip is to small so i have cutted off the tip so it isnt 0.12 anymore.
