My Magic3-Homebrew is installed in my V3PAL now. When i turn my PS2 on i only get a black screen..... i have to hold down reset (on switching on) till the blue light comes up and so my PS2 boots.

PS1copys are working, all originals are working too.

Haven't tried PS2-copys yet, but when i put any cdr in the ps2,
it boots like ps1-copy, gettin the sound and the SCEE text.....

tried to make a moviedisc with the divx-player, disc isn't booting, only this sound of starting ps1game and SCEE-text :(

so what do you think is wrong here ?

hopefully,

I had a problem like this with a magic 2 a while back. The problem was that I got 2 wires the wrong way around.

Cannot remember exactly that two but I am almost sure it was either M or N was swapped with the O on the bios.

I also checked them a number of times!!!! before you say ;)

The symptoms I had was like the chip was working back to front regarding the RESET press.

This may help.

oke, if i remove the point M the problem of the need to hold down reset till the blue light comes up iss done... checked the connections ;) they are right (no swaped wires and no shorts)

now i have copies of PS2-games, but trying them, gettin a PSX-booting-procedure :(

Looking at this from another angle and it appears to be all connected to the boot up mode (reset for ps2/psx).

If the console has been taken apart a number of times the ribbon cable, where it is pushed into the fitting on the back of the two front buttons may be now damaged.

It is really easy for this to happen if the console has been opened alot.

To test it you should fold the ribbon back the way it was originally folded and while holding it in place with your fingers try to boot up some backups, or move it about with the console on to see if the lights go off and on or the console resets.

Worth a good look.

oh my god, i think my english is too bad...

i try it again:

when i turn on my ps2 the 'normal' way by a short press on the reset button the ps2 turns on, some sounds that say the cd/dvd-drive is working, but a black screen and no sound !

when i turn on my ps2 the 'other' way, by holding reset-button down till the blue light comes up, then I get picture and sound like it should be.

My problem is, that all my copied media (even non-ps-cdrom) is tried to boot like PSX-copy so that the PSX-sound and a scrambled PSX-picture comes up.....

removin the wire from point M solves the problem with turning on the ps2 in 'normal' way, but the chip can't patch the bios without of course....

my thought is a difference by holding the reset-button to switch psx/ps2-mode !?? so that ps2-mode is not workin ??

thank you for your assistance
