I've got a PS2 V7 with a matrix chip. I would like to know if there is any way to tell a game is PAL or NTSC without having to check the disc's ID (SLUS, SCES etc) on my computer?

Just curious, why do you need to know if it's ntsc or pal?

To answer your question though, you have to use your computer and open it up.

when a game loads on your ps2, it says either SCEE or something else (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) so that's a way.

That is true but only with PSX games not PS2 games.
