Hey guys,

Well I have the V13 ps2 and I just purchased the CC chip. I am no good at soldering so I am gettign installed at from modster.ca

I talked to him today to check on the status and he tells me that he's experiencing difficulties. He says he installed it like he would a V12 but now what happenes is that he can hear the cd spin but then its just a black screen.

Are the wiring a litle different on the V13s? Does anyone have a diagram of a V12 install (i'll look around the site I'm sure I'll find out, just thought I'de ask anyway)

I'm not feeling so good about this as the PS2 is almost brand new :P and he can't seem to get it to work

Anyidea I could e-mail the installer?

Just got an e-mail from moster.ca
Looks like he is still having troubles getting the chip to work....
:(

He says it might be the chip itself...does this happen often? What would people recommend I do? Get he system back and send it somewhere else for them to take a look at? Anyone here near calgary wanna take a look at it :P ?

Recommendation?

I'm in Edmonton... PM me and let me know... Or call @ 780-965-9474(leave a msg if i don't answer...), But you might want to suggest that he remove it completely and try again after he makes it work unmodded...
Just a suggestion.
Good Day,
Marc

Well guys I feel much better about the chip now!

My story:

Got the chip from modobots.com in Edmonton Ab, Canada. I live in Calgary so I figured I would find a local installer to save money on shipping and hassle of shipping the PS2. I found modster.ca, he was going to charge me $50 for the install, which was fine. He had the PS2 for a week, and whenever I called him and actually got a hold of him he told me he couldn't get it working.
(which is what initialed this thread) Finally after a week of him trying, I decided that it was time I get it back as I was getting worried the Ps2 itself might get damaged. modster informed me that he thinks the chip is bad, and that he was going to charge me $50 for the attempt. I was not happy about that, I was willing to pay half or whatnot but full install price! (dunno if its common practice but I wasn't impressed personaly)

I then got in contact with Marc (Marcus21), he showed a couple pics of his installs upon my request and they looked really good! Marc kept in contact with me untill I finally got my chip back from modster. I decided after seeing the pictures and talking to modobots that sending it to marc was a good idea and that modobots approved of his work. I sent the chip and PS2 on thursday, he got it friday and informed me today he got it working no problems at all AND he sent me a pic of the install as per my request. He is sending the PS2 to me monday! AMAZING service and his work looks really good. I'll get the PS2 tuesday and be able to play w00t!

In other words, if you need an install in canada or AB, talk to Marc you won't regret it and stay away from modster.ca (I had a bad experience...)

Thanks Marc.

good he got it working though. My First crystal chip in my own PS2 unit was a dud & would not upgrade. But every chip since then works fine ;)

Sorry Spedmetal I have been chipping Playstation Consoles professionally in my own business 6 days out of seven for the last seven years. I did not mean to insult. I was just making a comment thats all. (I would of let it go but I just wanted to let you know that I not a newbe or one of those Wannabe modchippers that buys a modchip Installs it themselves & thinks that there a legend for doing it) sorry for the post I should of kept my opinions to myself. I do not wish this to go any further Thx. :)

I will sacrifice the looks for function any time... I like to do it, and with every job i get better and better, and a little constructive criticism is welcome...

Just feel I need to add to this.

I just had my version 13 PSTwo modded at modster.ca. I dropped it off and within 24 hrs I received a call from them saying the chip was installed and the PSTwo was ready to go. I got a Ghost2 Installed and so far havent had a single problem with it at all. IMHO I'd highly recommend going to modster.ca they were very helpful and fast.

Before I brought the PSTwo To modster.ca I asked about supplying a chip and I was told that they would only guarentee chips that they supply. Which makes sense to me.

If you bring your car to a mechanic to get fixed and you supply defective parts for the mechanic to use.

Should the mechanic do the work for free?

Personally I dont think so.....

There are some people that just out right cheap. Like if it doesn't work they don't pay.

Well I never once expected him to work for free, I would of been more than happy to pay him for his time maybe 3/4 or 1/2 install price. I never provided him with a defective part, the chip that he tried installing was sent up to Marc, Marc installed it no problems at all. Exactly the same chip.

Glad to hear he got yours working within 24 H, I can't really recommend someone who wasn't able to install a chip in my PS2. Also glad to hear you called ahead of time to see about chip guarentee which is kind of irrelevant since I never once asked him to guarentee the chip, but none the less a wise phone call.

I'm no soldering whiz which is why I got my chip installed but if I was to start over again and I had the choice between the pic I showed you and the pic attached, I think I would go with the one of my current install. (Personal opinion, not based on anything thing technical like how well its was done since I have no idea what a good solder looks like as opposed to a bad one, as far as I can tell what Marc did was great!)

PIC REMOVED AS PER OWNER'S REQUEST

Anyway, I guess it comes down to the fact that modster.ca has installed a chip that has worked and he has also not been able to install a chip. Maybe my chip is the only one he has ever had trouble with, or maybe he just cannot install crystal chips, who knows. I was just choked that I had to pay for 2 installs to get my chip working but was very pleased with Marc's work.

Now its 2 am (aprox) and I'm tired, I didn't mean to sound anal or bitchy, if I came across as a jerk sorry, didn't mean to. :D

Cheers,

E

The whole truth of the matter Erwan ...

The real true reason that you ended up having to bring your PS2 to another person to get the modchip re-installed was quite simply because of the day you and your boyfriend had phoned screaming and yelling and barking out orders at me. I quite simply and plainy told you to go f*&k yourself and to come and get your PS2.

Had you not been such a assclown on the phone that day you would have gotten your PS2 back modded in perfect working order.

So please refrain from telling BS unsubstantiated lies about me and posting live links to my site.

Don't want to get into a flaming battle here but I said no lies.

You had the chip for about 5+ days, so even if I you decided that because was being so "rude" on the phone you wouldn't install it, it took you that long to even start working on it? IF you would of been able to install it, it would of taking you 2 days at most UNLESS you were busy. But I did call a couple times to check on it and you did mention that you were having troubles and therefor had attempted to install it PRIOR to my so called "rude" call. So why didn't you get it working earlier? Would of avoided the so called rude phone call wouldn't it?

NOt too sure what you're trying to accomplish by coming on here and posting "the whole truth of the matter" bs, it certainly can't help posting immature comments such as "you and your boyfriend etc etc...." Admitting to telling a customer to go f*ck themselfs because I was being "rude" on the phone iscn't exactly what I would call handling matters in a professional way as you would imagine from a buisness owner like yourself. I don't recall being so rude that telling me to go fuck myself was in order, you must understand that I was a paying customer that kept hearing "I'm working on it, having a couple problems" - "I'm gonna take it out and try agian tomorrow" and while being patient after a week of hearing that you would get a little unconfortable having that person handle your PS2. Maybe a little nervous and frustated I sounded rude, my appologies. I guess I can only blame myself for not getting any more references on you. :banghead:

This is really going to go no where, its my word against yours really. But I'm not too sure why I would just decide to call you and ask for my PS2 back just to spend another install fee to get it install elsewhere when clearly you could of installed it if it wasn't for my "rude" phone call. .:chinscrat

Sorry for posting that link to your site, I'll remove it right away.

Cheers,

E
