From next week onwards the MATRIX TEAM will be changing their 'BLUEDOT' to an 'ORANGEDOT'

Im not sure what new features if any this will bring to the table, but i think that it will be their M.I preflashed with the LATEST bios!

Just thought i would let everyone know.

wasn't there was a stable power problem on v12 and they bringing the orange dot to solve that problem rather then from a 5v with diode to 3,3v

I thought that the orange dot were the homebrew ones??
maybee that was yellow

anyhow I dont see how changing the colour of the dot is going to make the power more stable??

Danny

The blue ones where also homebrew and normal.

Just the way the Orange ones will be Homebrew and flashed with the 1.54 bios.

Also they must have altered something on the chip to make the power more stable, and the orange dot is just to let you know which chip is which.

so are these orange dot chips flashable?
because I asked the shop were I want to buy (www.konsolenguru.de) and they say they have orange dot
but that could be homebrew too, no?
I only want a flashable chip and don't wanna get fucked with a clone or homebrew one :(

so are these orange dot chips flashable?

Usually, its the clones that have limited functionality. (ie not flashable, among other things). Besides, these new orangedots should be like an upgraded version of the bluedots, but instead of calling them bluedot v2 or something like that, they simply opted for a change of name.

IMO, the reason behind their changing the name is to clean-the-slate sorta speak, to get people to move on from their "slightly" distorted image due to their famous (or "in"famous :) ,depending on who you ask) patching method they employed on their previous chip which increases the likelihood of an irritating(and downright dangerous) mechacon lockup by quite a bit. I know there are fixes to handle that, but still..... its just annoying to have your ps2 shutdown on you in the middle of a serious gaming session every few minutes. (well maybe not that often :) ). So, if I were them, I would try to do something to clear that up (maybe by changing the name ?? ) .................then again, I've been out of the picture for a while. Maybe the above info is ancient history by now :)

I have installed a coupe of orange dot MI 3 weeks ago. They were preflahed with 1.50
They even looked a bit different...the pcb was greenish.

The power problem was only on the MX4 and not the infinity i thought.
