View Full Version : Matrix Infinity - multiple firmware on one CD?

Has anyone tried burning multiple firmware versions for Matrix Infinity on a single CD? I hate the idea of wasting a CD every time a new firmware comes out. I have the option to keep the session open, will it still work if I re-burn a new firmware on the same CD the second, third, forth time, etc? Just hoping that wouldn't cause any problems on my system.

Use a CD-RW

So version 9 supports cd-rw? I read somewhere that cd-rw's also put extra stress on the laser.. is that true?

use MC, and put files using execftp/uLaunchelf, then hexa edit MCAPPS.DAT for upgrade firmware...then no CD waste anymore

Ok well my v9 doesn't work with CD-RW's (read somewhere it's because i'm using the romeo mod?). So I tried leaving the session open on a regular CD-R (good media) and it gave me the red screen of death. So I just used a regular CD-R (upgraded to v1.54) and it worked, but only after I powered my system completely off first and then back on (got the red screen at first when testing a working backup on reset). So much for trying to reuse a CD. I'll look into using MC (memory card?) to do upgrades once I get a Network Adapter.

Is there a guide on how to upgrade from the Mem Card?

it's a LOT easier if u have a matrix chip m8...

1. make HDloader ur DEV1 boot and HDL_Serv ur DEV2 boot

2. boot HDL_serv on ur PS2 and start HDL_DUMP on ur PC...

3. open up the .cue file of the matrix infinity upgrade in HDL_Dump

4. send it to ur PS2 HDD...

5. boot HDLoader

6. Choose the upgrade n ur games list and Start ur upgrade

7. Done...

no cd's wasted takes about 10 mins...btw...

in simple:

you burn execftps to CD
load it up, plug in your PS2 to your network and boot FTP program onto your PC

then make a folder in MC0 called BOOT
in that folder place the execftps elf and Ulaunch Elf but rename ulaunchelf to BOOT.ELF

then boot your PS2 into Dev1 mode and setup launchelf
then boot execftps and transfer the MI firmware elf to the MC BOOT folder (you need to extract the firmware from the .CUE/.BIN file)
reboot your PS2 and use launch elf to run the update

Im sure there are loads of in depth tutorials for most of this so search ;)

Danny
