I have an unmodded PS2 w/ a HDD and was hoping someone could answer a few questions before I start really digging into this. I already have a working NGCD and a stack of games but it would be nice to play with shorter load times. :)

1. Is it possible to use CDDA when playing from the HDD using the unmodded guide?
2. Does CDDA use the actual tracks on the CD or some other sound files (wav, mp3, whatever)?

I searched and read docs but didn't really find anything addressing these two questions.

Thanks!

Hello,

In regards to your first question about the CDDA support for the HDD. I have not found a successful way to re-create the image along with the NeoCD.zip file, Data and Audio files. So as far as I know it won't work unless someone else knows a program/way it can be done.

I don't know how to answer your 2nd question sorry but I'm sure someone will shed some light on it.

Thanks for the info. I'll look at it a bit this weekend if I get some time and post if I come up with anything new.

1. A NGCD disc is a mixed-mode CD (data + audio tracks). HD Loader can load data disc only so the answer is no.
2. CDDA => audio tracks on a CD.

There's no way to play audio tracks unless evilo support playing mp3 tracks made from audio tracks (mp3 decoding will slowdown the emulation though).

Plus, the original creator of the emulator explicitly only wanted to use NGCD discs, and not pirated roms.
