Usb Extreme or a modchip?

Hey everyone,
I?m looking for a bit of info on modding my V5 PS2. I?ve been looking either a no solder mod chip that will allow mw to play games off of a USB HDD along with home brew stuff. If something like that isn?t around if the USB Extreme a viable option? I wanna be able to the modding myself so shipping it to someone isn?t an option, does anyone have any Ideas?

Any particular reason you want to use a usb drive on your v5 when you can use an ide drive? USBAdvance is terribly slow.

there are two reasins the firts being I already have a usb drive and I'm trying to keep the coast down.

if you don't mind the fmvs skipping like crazy, then get the usbadvance. Personally it drives me nuts. Imagine trying to play metal gear 3: snake eater.
