USBExtreme and modchips

If I want to load games from the HDD using USBExtreme, do I need to get my PStwo modded? There are three NTSC games that I am currently converting to PAL before putting them on the HDD as my PStwo plays only PAL games.
So will I need a chip to play the games?

you can buy the orginal usb loader disc, to boot that you dont need a chip.

but if u planing to run the "free" usb loader that could be found online you need a chip or another boot methode.
