Perhaps i must burn the Neocd Emu together with a game on one cd ?
Or should it work correctly if the game is on a separate disc ?
i don“t know the reason it doesnt work

what is your configuration ?
is your ps2 modded ?
also be sure to burn the cd as described in the readme :
General requirements :
- Before running the emulator be sure that the "host/cd"
contains the following tree :
|-- neocd folder (or CD root)
|
|- neocd.bin (ngcd bios, not provided)
|
|- neocd.elf
|
|- neocdps2.txt
|
|- system.cnf (if burned on a cd)
|
|- install.pbt \
|- instlst.pbt \_ C.C. Boot Manager Install Scripts
|- remove.pbt / Needed to install neocd on the BM
|- run.pbt /
Before you ask, if ANY file is MISSING : IT WON'T WORK !
- Ensure that both bios file (called "neocd.bin" and
"sfix.sfx") are present. they should not be compressed
(neocd size is 512kb and correct bios should have his
CRC32 equal to 0xDF9DE490
-> bios are NOT provided with the emulator, so you have
to search it by your own or try to dump it from your NGCD.
- Load the emulator (neocd.elf) using your favorite way. If you
burn the emulator be sure to use mode1/iso9660/NO multisession.
- On the splash/intro screen, when you see the "Insert a CD" text,
insert a neogeo cd into your drive, wait a few seconds (the time
for the drive to spin) and press (X) on the pad.
- If all goes well NeoCD/PS2 should detect the game and run it.
Limitation on CD swapping :
1. Your ps2 will need to be modded, else cd will be only recognized
as Audio CD, and it won't be recognized by the emulator.
2. CD size must be at least of 30Mb. Depending of your model, your
ps2 could have problem reading/booting little games (i.e. bust a move),
so you will need to use a backup up copy and inject some dummy file.

evilo, i think reptileking means this:
he try to burn the neo geo emulator on a cd without any games. only the emulator.
so it can play it on ps2 console. screen will start and ask for pressing x to change cd. so he changes the cd with neogeo game (i.e. an iso downloaded from internet, extracting then the .bin file in the iso file and burn it on a cd, well neogeo files must be seen on the main folder of the cd i.e. .txt .fix. .prg .z80 and no .bin and .mp3).
so it will work :D
reptileking, remember that the iso file you have downloaded must be extracted (you will see .bin and some .mp3) and then extract all the files containing in the .bin image in a folder and then burning it. so you can have 2 cd. 1 for only neogeo emulator to start it on ps2 and 1 cd that have only neogeo game without neogeo emulator. it must work i think, i'm no secure.
don't burn direct the cd from the .iso file you have downloaded. it will not work. LOL
a question for evilo: is there a possibilty to put more games on 1 cd as multi-games? with cd loader it don't work. are you plaining for this?

euh...
I made a wrong copy/paste from the wip version...
you don't need that file in the current public version (0.5), but ONLY neocd.bin :)
sorry ...
anyway, please tell us how you start up the emu ?
if modchip , which one ?
exploit ?
thanks

I have the magic 3.0 modchip in myps2 and have an neocd.bin bio with 512 kb
my ps2 is an V7
the emu boots normally and i see the title screen with " insert a cd and press X"
After waiting until cd start to spin i press X and nothing happens (neocd v.0.5)
No exploit just boot from cd and run
and my game Cd looks like this:
ABS.TXT,CPY.TXT,IPL,TXT and many *.PAT,*.PBL,*.PCM,*.SPR,*.PAR,*.PRG,*.Z80,*.FIX
How are you Gentlemen doing?
I saw your forum and was really intrigued by the concept of the arcade emulator on the PS2. I wanted to test it with some of my NeoGeo roms that I had for my PC MAME emulator. When I unzipped them there were just *.bin files. From what I gather from this discussion set of roms files should contain other extensions like .Z80 and so on. I tried it anyway, and while the emulator itself did start, the game or more specifically its roms were not recognize. Tried both swam method and burn with emulator method.
My question is this. Can NG roms that were used with MAME emulator be somehow modified to work with PS2 Neogeo emulator or should I start looking for a new sets of NeoGeo roms. And did anyone started a list of NeoGeo roms that do work with this emulator?

You can't play roms with the emulator, it plays Neo-Geo CDs.
If these are downloaded somewhere, they usually come in ISO format, and audio tracks in Mp3. 1:1 copies are in Bin format and no audio tracks, also usually a cue file comes with both formats. Those .bin files are however not the same as the rom format, they contain Cd-Data and are usually much bigger than roms. I'm not familar with burning more than 1 game on a CD like TUTTIFUSI mentioned, and if you have trouble to burn games the usual away I'd say you better get a 1 game-CD done first.
Reptileking: Did you burn a low speed? That's the only reason (never occured to me) I can think of at the moment why it doens't work, if Nero accepts the cue and your disc is recognized in your computer CD-drive I suppose you burned it successfully.

copy paste here the content of your CD (using dir *.*) for both the cd with the game itself, and the cd with the emulator.

But the game is in an image file and the audio is mp3
i must burn choosing the cue file at nero.

yes, but once the image is burned, you can read the cd content from you pc.
just put it in your drive, and give me the content of the cd.
and you should see all the game files (*.spr, *.fix, etc..)
copy/paste me here the directory content.

the game look s like the following bmp-file
Thank you for your help, gentlemen. I was able to run a NG game, using a swap disk method. It worked. I used NERO 6.3 for both emulator and the game(came in que format) and followed instructions exactly...
Over this weekend I?ll try to install the game on my PS2 HD.
Since an emulator does not have --game select-- option, I think the only way to do it is to burn an emulator with every game prior to installation.
If anyone've done this before, may I inquire if I have to make modifications to *.pbt files in order to make the game install on the HD?
Well have a great weekend.

I have no modded PS2 so mode1 cd cant be read but if the files are putted with or without the emulator on a cd mode 2-XA, i can boot the emulator cd or the emulator with game by swapping with swap magic or other ( V3 PS2 )
If the game is with emulator i just have to put X, if the gzme is alone , i swap the emulator cd with the game and it works great ( maybe some dummy file )
The noise you ear reptileking seems to be a mode1 cd with mo modded PS2.
