I am trying an idea to use PC mods for MVP 2005 on PS2. Looking at both versions, the files are EXACTLY the same. So I thought logically it can work somehow, by extracting the PS2 version, overwriting like files with PC mods, and rebuilding the iso with CDGENPS2 and Isobuster, and transferring the modded version via WINHIIP. I look at this thread for a model on how to do this:

http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?t=34406&highlight=GTA+Vice+CIty

This guy had modded Vice City, I want to do the same with MVP. I made two mods, one with relabeling the LBAs and one without (just overwriting the files I wanted to change). On the first one, I get a pink screen (never seen a pink screen of death) when trying to boot it with HD Advance....On the second one, I got a little HDD activity before the black screen of death. Can anyone please help me with advice or ideas?

the PC files are in a different format, unless all you are trying to do is rosters

PC=FSH files
Xbox=XSH files
PS2=SSH
GC=GSH

they are all containers for image, the container for each version are close just the headers are different. But the images inside the container are in a different formats for each system (well Xbox and PC both use BMP, GC and PS2 use something different)

but assuming you knew the format

you have to open the pc's FSH file export the image. the open the PS2's ssh file and import the PC image. Good luck finding tools that will open the ssh, all fsh tools go nutz because they do not undetstand the image inside the ssh file

Thanks for trying to help, much appreciated. All I'm trying to do though is mod the overlay and the datafile. I'm not messing with the uniforms or stadiums (these are the .fsh files?) Are the overlays .fsh also inside the .big file? I think the datafile is a .txt file. Hope someone can help me think of something.

yes the overlays are fsh (ssh) files inside the BIG file. The datafile thing should work though

if you arent changing the file size of the .txt i would just use apache and the replace feature... and if u find a .ssh tool let me know ive been lookin for everrrrr

the file size of the datafile.txt does change because it is modded.

u can try rebuilding the whole iso.. but i tried this many many times w/ fifa(editing songs) but it never loaded past the first screen when on hdd....

i no that people edit winning eleven 8/pes4 ... the ps2 versions... they update jeresys shoes balls stadiums menus music everything basically... and when they release that stuff it all goes in thro apache becuase the file size has not changed... ( i belive the file size can be come smaller but not larger?)

it works well for rosters becuase its simply changing a 6 to a 14 and then another guy 14 to 6 for trades ...

PESinsight.com / soccergaming.tv / nba-live.com those sites do alot of editing you will find most tools/help there

Thanks but I want to open the ssh files on PS2. I have tried to transfer the datafile.txt, and have run into another issue. The DVD says the game is 4.00GB, but when I extract the files, it is only 2.08GB, where are the other 2GB???

the other 2 gig are becuase of false LBA info.. .when u put the iso back to gether w/ LBA correct... it will resume being 4gb... if the txt is same size i would just use apache2 to replace

thanks for your reply, can anyone tell me the best way to rebuild the ISO with the correct LBA info, I've heard CDGENPS2, Isobuster, Nero, it's all confusing! BTW, the .txt file is not the same size as the original, so I have to rebuild the ISO.

That confusion is only apparent. Once you examine the tools you'll find that each has a different purpose.

"cdgenPS2" is used to build ISO files. It allows setting the LBA of any object.
Bug warning: When importing files with LBA info, folders restart at lowest LBAs, so those LBA values will have to be edited manually if you need different ones. (Careful, avoid LBA collisions.)

"Isobuster" is used to analyze ISO files and to extract stuff from them, including LBA information.
BUG warning: when saving LBA info, folder LBAs are not included. This is clearly the cause of the problem with cdgenPS2 mentioned above.

"Nero" is just a CD-burn program with some ISO-building abilities.
Limitation warning: As far as I know, Nero has no ability to manipulate LBAs.

BTW, the .txt file is not the same size as the original, so I have to rebuild the ISO.
Definitely a job for cdgenPS2 then. I just hope that the file on the next LBA position will work when 'bumped' to another.

Best regards: dlanor

Thank you dianor, I will try your advice and report my findings. (Now, if someone could just come up with a tool to edit .ssh I'd be in baseball heaven lol)

UPDATE: When editing LBAs in CDGENPS2, the edit box only allows characters up to 6 numbers....some of the LBAs on MVP 2005 have 7 characters, so I can match them up whats on the DVD :banghead: So now what do I do? File Tree On ISO BUSTER gives me error messages when I try to import it.
