I`ll use usbadvance with IDE HDD + Usb-enclosure.

Please recommend proper usb-enclosures.

well i have a COMPUSA one and it looks really great and it was cheap too

just get any solid one, preferably with USB2/firewire, it's not needed for the PS2 but faster install for the pc side.
I use firewire on my pc and it's pretty fast :) (3 to 4 mins for a full dvd, not bad)
