Hey
just a thought
but if USB advance can play games through an external HD unit in the USB slot, is it at all possible to use an external dvd drive in the USB slot to play back-ups in? This would help with games that dont work in HDLoader/USBadvance but the PS2 has a gubbed laser (in my case)
Take it one step further.....
What about a USB cable from PC to PS2 with a server on the PC streaming the iso over to the PS2 for playing ?

Theoretically, almost any hookup that is physically functional would be POSSIBLE to use, but most of them are extremely improbable ever to be realized.
At present there is NO software capable of these things, and making some would (for each of those variants) be a major project. Possible, to be sure, but quite demanding. So don't hold your breath waiting... ;)

in theory you could use a dvd drive as long as the format of the disc was right eg. usbloaders index file and image cut up into 1gb chunks like on a usb hdd. but you would still have to load it using usbloader same games would be incompatable with no real advantages except it would be on a disc.
i guess you could do exact same with the ide slot on the NA with some extension cables but same thing no advantages.
it would be good to have a external dvd drive though for people with stuffed lasers

On Topic : I dont believe DVD/CD rom drives use the same mass storage driver than flash and USB HDD's use. Though I havn't investigated I may be wrong
Off Topic : My point being, I deal with people who use slayers all day. Sure it saves them time installing old, outdated software quickly. But then when they need to know how to copy a game, install a new program, why xbmc's parsers are fucked with their 18 month old version of xbmc, do virtually ANYTHING they dont have a clue. If they had just learned some xbox basics (which are described in detail in MANY tutorials on x-s) they would have saved themselves, and the people on irc and forums's time. slayers is like using AOL.
