If it really exists as the app shown, was made by someone against the scene and not asociated with the seller, nfo's are sponsored by hd/usb/advance...
If it is just the splash with some crap...then is nfo's
or maybe it's just hdl with a new skin, that could be made by anybody

assuming that this is real, then obviously it's useful for new ps2 owners, but for us old fogies what's the benefit? how do games load (fast/slow)? and the most important thing, is there any REAL compatability upgrades? dvd9 games, sector read games supported, etc?
if anyone who actually has this app can answer these questions, it'd be nice to know.

USB Extreme is a horrible product. The loading times are a joke. GTA:SA takes around 7 mins to load at the start. All FMV games lose audio sync, skip and freeze. Games take forever to load.
This is what I predicted due to some common sense. PS2 uses USB 1.1 and that is slow as hell to begin with. Fact is that you can't load data faster then the USB port will let you. It's simple math guys. Ps2nfo of course lied about this and said it's really fast. Hell, this method is even slower then streaming gamecube games!
DVD9 still doesn't work, a few games I tested that don't boot on HdLoader/Advance don't boot. What a ripoff.
Anyone who buys this product then complains about loading speeds should be bitch slapped.
The only reason I purchased it was to prove my prediction.
Don't buy it unless you're some kind of idiot n00b!
There is the IDE addon for V12 PS2's, I suggest you do that instead if you want HDD support. It's pretty easy to do, just takes a while and a little bit of patience. Anyone who can install a modchip can the IDE addon.
Conclusion - USBExtreme SUX!

I am now wondering if there's software that can emulate a USB hard drive. Even if load times are slow, would somewhat be convenient just having a USB wire from PC to PS2.

Launched usbadvance.elf from launchelf. Booted fine. Inserted my 256mb pendrive FAT32 formatted. Recognized. used ul_install to transfer ARMAX EVO to pendrive. Success. Plugged pendrive back into sony. ARMAX added to Game List. Clicked on start. ARMAX loaded fine. The loading time seemed minimumly longer, but there isn't much to load. When I tried to use the cheats and inserted PS2 DVD i got BSOD, but then i expected as much. Also transfered HDLoader to pendrive which also booted fine, but didn't run the games. Have yet to test it with an actual game due to the size limitation of my pendrive (256mb)

i'm just curious where (generally) everyone is finding this, i.e. web, irc, newsgroups, etc. i've been searching all medium and i can't seem to find this damn thing anywhere. it's more of a tools collecting task than anything for me cuz i'll continue using my IDE hdd.
i suppose the only reason i'm asking, in general, is cuz i've never had such a hard time finding something ;)

First a reply to ltdc2004:
Cool it man! Normally I'd agree with you on that, but this particular stuff was posted in the news forum by xiaNaix, with statements that he (whom I've considered a senior user here) did NOT regard it as warez of any kind, and even <G> spoke of it in similar terms. Surely normal users must also be allowed to at least discuss the same things then, or has free speech been limited to some select group ?
(Note that I didn't post or link to any file, but merely spoke of stuff already on this site.)
Whatever, as far as my results with it go, it might as well have been a hoax.
I'm stumped, trying to get this stuff to work.
I've FTP'd the ELF to MC and launched it there with LaunchELF.
I've burned the disk image to CD-R and tried to boot that.
I've tried both those boot methods with no USB device, with fresh-formatted USB-memory, and with same USB-memory after placing a small disk image onto it with ul_install.
In all cases the only boot result is a black screen, so I still haven't seen the main menu.
Am I missing something ? Or is this thing allergic to my Matrix Infinity, or perhaps to my V9 console...? If this is really the finished product, then it's nothing but a bad joke.

For those of you who want to see this in action, or are still thinking this is a joke here's a video for ya. (Keep watching it eventually loads up ARMAX EVO)

04-01-2005, 06:41 AM
Perhaps I should have expressed myself differently. I did not mean that the product is a joke in the sense of it being an intentional joke or hoax. I meant that it is a joke in terms of rotten compatibility as I can't even get it to start up on my console, despite the many different ways I tried (partly described in my last post).
Your video was interesting in a way, as it appears that you could start USBadvance from MC, using LaunchELF, which is also the method I'd prefer. Is that correct ?
And when you launch it this way, does it matter whether the tray is empty or not ?
As for the USB device I have two questions:
Does the program display anything at all if the USB device is missing ?
And is anything displayed if a device is connected but empty ?
As stated previously, I get NO visible boot response other than a black screen, for all those cases (and several other cases too).
Btw: Just to clarify things, let me make it clear that I have no interest whatever in really using USBadvance for running either games or homebrews. (I already have HDLoader for those needs.) I'm only interested in testing what it's capabilities really are. But so far all it's capabilities on my console are null and void...

was just a broad statement for those who thought it was an April fools joke (as i did) and yep i loaded launchelf from MC, then USBAdvance from the boot partition on HDD (Unmodded Console dunno if it makes a difference) Had a PS1 disc in tray to trigger exploit. The prog loads even without a USB device in port, when you insert an empty USB device whilst prog is running, it detects it and says there is no games installed. What I found unusual is it doesn't have any visable "mode selections" (pressing select didn't bring one up either) Seems they are confident in it being compatible with most games.... and There is only two buttons "Start" and "Format" kinda hard to see in the vid, but there's no "rename" "delete" etc, which could be a pain in the arse because if you change anything on the computer side of things it isn't reflected in the config file without hex editing it

This is a quick guild on how to use USB Advance.
* Burnt the usb-advance.BIN using Alcohol
* Formated old 4gb USB laptop drive on PC by performing ..
NOTE: H = Target Drive
G:\USBAdvance.Cracked-PS2Scene\ul_format H FORMAT
The USB hard drive need to do Initialise and create a NTFS
partition with maximum size in the WindowsXp Disk Management first!
The USB hard drive is locked while formatting so make sure no files
are open or window explorer isn't exploring the device!
WARNING, ALL DATA ON USB HARD DRIVE WILL BE LOST!
Proceed with Format (Y/N)?
FAT32 FORMAT: LBA 0, NumSectors 8007489
FormatFAT32: Cluster size = 8 sectors
Fat Size = 7820
Data Size = 7999637
Fat entries per sector = 128
Data area num clusters = 999954
Max fat cluster = 8007680
Writing BPB
Initialising FSInfo
Initialising FAT Table
Initialising ROOT directory table
Fat32 Format complete
Disk formatted ok...
OK.
* Installed backup game "Lego StarWars" on PC to old 4gb laptop drive by performing ..
NOTE: D = Source Drive & H = Target Drive
G:\USBAdvance.Cracked-PS2Scene\UL_INSTALL D H "Lego StarWars" CD
Checking disc..
COPYING: 607.14MB/607.14MB
copy finished
* Timings were as follows:
Lego Star Wars CD 607.14MB
Avg 4.5sec/1mb Transfer Via USB2
My Estimate: 45mins
Start: 02:35 (GMT)
End: 03:18 (GMT)
Actual Time: 43mins
* Booted USB-Advance on 'slimline' PS2 via SWAP MAGIC V3.3 (CD)
* Plugged in USB Drive
* Selected 'Lego StarWars'
* Press 'X'
And that's it - the game loaded & plays fine!!!!
NOTE: Loading time seems about equal to CD speed and doesn't affect the actual game play.
Note: This was cut and pasted from a another site, i have not actually tested it or do own a copy. :chinscrat

What I found unusual is it doesn't have any visable "mode selections" (pressing select didn't bring one up either) Seems they are confident in it being compatible with most games....
Maybe, but consider this instead:
Mode 1 makes HDLoader slow down, so it's NOT needed for USBadvance
Mode 2 is used to allow huge image files, which USBadvance can't (FAT)
Mode 3 is for a stealth mode, apparently not supported by USBadvance
Of course, there may well be problems specific to USBadvance, for which some kind of mode flags may be needed, but I don't think it has been tested extensively enough for those problems to be clear yet.
and There is only two buttons "Start" and "Format" kinda hard to see in the vid, but there's no "rename" "delete" etc, which could be a pain in the arse because if you change anything on the computer side of things it isn't reflected in the config file without hex editing it
True, so people using it will almost have to learn hex editing.
(Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.)
Thanks to the tip by Accadeecee about the macrovision disabling, I too have now been able to test USBadvance with more meaningful results than just a black screen. Apparently there is some conflict between how Matrix Infinity handles macrovision, and something USBadvance relies on at boot, causing it to lock up if the macrovision fix is ON (which it normally is...)
Having tested the program for a while I can confirm most of the results reported by Accadeecee. I can also report an odd feature that may be used to allow links between HDLoader menu and USBadvance menu, though that will require writing a new launcher which can perform such transfers with IOP reset at the proper point of each transfer.
What I did was first to install Altimit both for HDLoader and USBadvance.
Then I booted to LaunchELF, used it to launch HDLoader, used HDL to launch Altimit, which I used to browse for LaunchELF and relaunch that, which I then used to launch USBadvance and used that to launch Altimit, where I again browsed for LaunchELF to try another relaunch. Unfortunately the chain of success was broken there, as that launch locked up.
I am convinced, however, that a launcher could be developed with the ability to go back and forth between HDLoader and USB advance. After all, even with stuff not designed for it I was just one step from closing my circle.

Yup,
It does work.
It is fairly straight forward to get going.
Copying the games over isn't too bad.
Sadly the limitations of USB 1.1 means that it SUX!
I hooked up a 20GB laptop drive in a 'powered from usb port' caddy. Copied ICO over in about 4 minutes. Attached drive to pstwo. Booted swapmagic CD, swapped to UsbAdvance CD, UsbAdvance booted and asked for a usb device. I unplugged the hdd and plugged it back in. It was immediately recognized and showed me ICO was installed, also how much drive space was free. I selected ICO, the screen went black, hdd spun up and its activity light came on. After about 20 seconds hdd spun down light went out. That was it so I guess ICO is not compatible.
Next Devil May Cry 1.
18 minutes to copy to hdd (4407MB).
Same process as before but this time it did boot in after a few seconds - cool! Unfortunately it was very slow playing the opening movie - unusable! The levels take longer than the DVD to load but once they are loaded gameplay is unaffected. However, going through a door to change scene is reminiscent of Resident Evil only slower - TOO SLOW.
I was well pleased that the pstwo had the balls to power the laptop drive from its usb port but a great shame that the poor loading times totally ruin it.
Unusable.
Bummer!
Oh Yeah, one more thing, all the time that DMC was playing the UsbAdvance CD was spinning like buggery.

Hmm I have been playing with this all day and have gotten mixed results. Some games work some don't. I suppose that's to be expected.
I use the PS2 Slim with a Magic chip so I don't know if that has anything to do with anything at all. I have noticed that the CD spins all the time. Seems kinda odd, I wonder if the laser is engaged during this process?
Anyone running multiple games off of it yet. It seems I can get 1 to work but when I start dropping several on the HD (20 Gig DataStor) I start running into issues.

Guys did you read my post? USBExtreme SUX! It's not worth the bandwidth to download it even when it's 700KB. I rather download some goat pr0n instead!
The loading times are a joke. GTA:SA takes around 7 mins to load at the start.
Hmm...about 2-3 minutes for me.
All FMV games lose audio sync, skip and freeze. Games take forever to load.
I'm playing for 3 and a half hour now and everythingl is fine. Not a single skip or freeze.
Only the loading times when i enter a house are slightly longer.

it would be nice to hear PSTwo owners giving their take, since they are the "affected" ones.
People with non-slimline PSTwos can be.. well.. biased because of their options.
For PSTwo owners, this is an "alternative tool", not like HDLoader which is an "essential product in itself"
So stop the exaggerations and vague "it sux!!! slow games!" posts, please.
see camo's above post for "good" kind.
All that matters is:
1) at the benefit of the laser's usage, is it comparable to using DVDRs for games?
although the whole "USB Advance CD is spinning a lot" makes me doubt there are "laser-biased" advantages. Don't know why it has to read the CD though...

The guys who got it loading with swap magic, how did you go about it. I cant get it to load using swap magic disc?
rabiddog781
04-02-2005, 12:05 AM
you can put the USBadvance elf file onto a memory card and use swapmagic to boot from the card (need SM 3.3) that way the cd drive stops spinning. you can find the disk needed and instructions on swapmagic.com at the bottom of the page. As for games, I've had multiple games working, full motion video is ok if its in a compressed format but a stream just plain skips and splutters. erm the games i've tested so far are : Gran tourismo 3 , tekken 4, ssx3 (needed universal EA patch) and MERCS. the problem arrises when you attempt to remove a install like i did with a game that didn't work, if you get any fragmentation on the drive call it a day and reformat. I was actually very impressed with the loading times, but thats because A: i've never used hdloader/advanve B: my backups were on crappy disks so they were unreliable
will this work on a pstwo with a nh9 modchip?
mp3thief
04-02-2005, 02:20 AM
worked fine for me with not one mod on my pstwo. Unless you consider ARMAX a mod! ;) Loaded up the image onto alcohol 120% virtual drive. put the USBADVN.ELF on the pendrive (make sure to rename to autoexec.elf on the pendrive) and load up ARMAX. Then just go into media player and it comes right up.
A bit pissed off at the command line only, took 2 hrs to copy tekken 5 over to the hdd...even at 10mb/s (4.5gb total), But for me, i can't tell the difference between the loading time through the hdd or the disc.
I don't really care who released it...just glad they did. Didn't have to buy a chip, or a fliptop, or magicswitch, magic swap, any of that crap

I Got a PStwo and SM 3.3, I just burned the cue/bin on a cdr and got it running with the SM CD. I used an USB2/FW enclosure with an old 20GB HD, copying games on it via FW was blazing fast after I set the driver on performance mode (like said in the news), something like 2/3 mins for a full dvd.
The result was better than I expected, I did put .hack vol 1 on the HD and had some probs to make USBa recognize the HD but after some plug/unplug I got .hack in the menu and runned it. As expected the loading time was worth than DVDr but was somewhat supportable, and videos are a big no no using USBa, very choppy.
I tried so far :
- .hack vol 1 : worked perfectly
- Castlevania : worked perfectly
- GTA SA : Worked fine as long as you don't go in the ingame menu (black screen)
- Suikoden 4 : black screen
- Shadow Hearts 2 DVD#1 : black screen

Anyway I played GTA SA for some hours and it tends to lockup randomly at the beguining of the game to constant lockup later. but beside that the game play real smooth, just a little slower than dvd. Not that bad :)
Anyone tried using an SD card? I plugged mine in and it recognized it (and the size of hte files on it) and even formatted it. It just wasn't big enough for a game. Crappy product, just thought the idea of a ps2 flash card was a little silly/net :P

not worth the trouble, becuase i'm 99.9% sure it can't be done. it's more than just switching out the hardware...becuase that would be easy, you would need to flash the bios with the driver as well or some other such nonsense.

worked fine for me with not one mod on my pstwo.
What version of ARMAX are you using? TIA!

ok, no longer upset, got home and rebooted after i set the drive for performance, and copied tekken 5 from a virtual drive in 5 minutes...MUCH better than the 2 hrs it took last night...also helpful in pstwo performace if you defragment after you copy...and i think the 16mb cache on the drive helps to...still think i'll have to get a modded chubby, and use my unmodded slim for dnas online games

Okay so those who are getting it working on their slimline PSTwo's (and perhaps, like me, have never had a standard PS2 with HDLoader so have nothing 'biased' to compare this to), how are the results?
Load times, FMV, audio?
I'm in Japan and USB drives are cheap and pretty much standard here (people scared to open their own computers), so if there are any benefits to this, it seems worth the media to burn it.
But throughout this thread, besides a random "nicely worded" compatiblity report (and also helpful tools and the drive performance thing, good call) it's mainly not helpful.
Maybe a separate thread is in order simply for results...

ok im confused,i have the the hd loader exploit sussed and use it all the time but, say you have an un modded pstwo, heres what ive seen on various forums,
the usb extreme bin cue can be made to a cd via nero , alcohol etc. i can extract the usb elf with isobuster , is ar max evo needed to load the elf to the memory card,(is there any other way on an un modded console) if so how is the usb hdd triggered , ive seen that you can use the media player in ar max to do this , but could you load the elf like the hd loader and use a ps1 trigger disk to fire up the usb hdd , with the elf on the mem card or is that the whole point of the usb that you get the elf on the mem card and it boots the usb hdd without the need for any disks be it ps1 or other in the drive tray

That is because that media player supports a special type of CD format, known as UMCDR. Essentially this is a mix of CDROM standards and CDAUDIO standards, so the PS2 allows it to be read (like an audio CD), and then the media player can load and run the ELF (like from a CDROM).
but could you load the elf like the hd loader and use a ps1 trigger disk to fire up the usb hdd
No that is impossible on a PStwo, because the weakness in the PS1 driver that the 'exploit' exploited has been removed. The PS2 exploit simply does NOT work on any PStwo.
, with the elf on the mem card or is that the whole point of the usb that you get the elf on the mem card and it boots the usb hdd without the need for any disks be it ps1 or other in the drive tray
Sorry, it's not that easy...
The only way to boot ELFs from MC without using a disc is by having a mod-chip with special support for such booting (AKA Devolution mode 1).

Well first of all, this problem is ONLY known to occur with a specific mod-chip, the Matrix Infinity (maybe also its 'clone-suspect' Ripper 3). If you have this chip, then the cure is simple.
Press down both Triangle and Circle keys on your controller while resetting the PS2, and hold them down waiting for the Matrix settings menu to appear. Use D-Pad to select the "Macrovision fix" entry, and change it to the "OFF" position with the X key, and then press Start key to save settings. Finally reset the system (when prompted) and you're all set.

I think I read through all these posts and still have two questions if anyone can entertain them:
1) how do you 'install' a game that you have only the iso for, not an actual cdr or dvdr that you can put in a drive and copy over? do you just unpack the iso into a folder or something?
2) if I already have some partitions on my usb drive do I need to create a separate one just for this application to format?

Well, you can mount the iso on daemon tools or Alcohol...
2) if I already have some partitions on my usb drive do I need to create a separate one just for this application to format?
i'm guessin, you only need a fat32 partition visible. I don't think it must be formatted with "ul_format.exe". As far as i've seen the game installer only splits the image in multiple 1gb files and adds the relative entry in ul.cfg. So (still guessin') you can have ps2 games and personal files at the same time on the usb hdd. After all, usbadvance only recognizes games that appear in the ul.cfg...

thanks canalaiz, the daemon tools was a good idea, i had forgotten all about that.
has anyone tried this on a drive with multiple partitions? i have a 120gig western digital drive I use for work that has a 5gig fat32 partition, an 80gig ntfs partition with my work stuff, then i created a 20mb ntfs partition for use with usbadvance. it formatted and i was able to 'install' things correctly but when i try to use the program it keeps telling me 'insert usb device'. i've tried connecting the drive before swap magic 3.3 and also waiting until i see this message to connect the drive but it doesn't seem to recognize anything there. i've not had any problems using this usb drive on all types of computers so i know it works properly. i'm wondering if it looks for the ul formatted partition first and since it sees my other 10gig fat32 partition in front of it, just comes up with not being able to find a device.

That's bad, very bad... :( If this error persists it means that you have NO means of saving your modchip settings, not only for this purpose but for other cases as well. That chip must be considered defective, and if you didn't get a warranty (and one still valid) for it, I'm afraid there's no way to solve your problem. :(

Ok, but if you have a PS2 (rather than a PStwo) I still recommend getting HDLoader instead, as it works much better and has no known conflicts with any mod-chip.

An interesting note.. I just used CloneCD to make an image for FFX (I normally use DVD Decrypter to make DVD images) and I noticed it made a sequence of FF10.DVD, FF10.001, FF10.002, etc files. The numbered files are exactly 1GB large each. I'm going to try imaging another DVD with CloneCD to see if this is an inherent quirk in how it handles those images. If so, it might just make USB Extreme installs THAT much easier.

USBadvance (shockingly) does not contain any method to 'uninstall' a game :(
Apparently they expect people to reformat and start over, whenever they want to get rid of a game, which is ridiculous...
Fortunately it is quite simple to hex edit the ul.cfg file to remove the 64-byte block releated to the game in question, and then simply remove the corresponding image file(s) from the USB disk. :)
However, you should avoid doing this in such a way as to fragment the free areas on the disk too much, as that may cause problems with games installed later (so that they use multiple fragments).

Hi All, I have managed to test some more games.
I also have the choppy Audio and Graphics (using a PS2).
Games Installed:
Kingdom Hearts - Seems to load but Choppy Intro, so I just turned it off
Simpsons Hit & Run - Black Screen
Sponge Bob Square Pants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman - Works Until you go to 'Start new game' and then black screens (no HDD activity).
Treasure Planet - Black Screen
Over all, I would say your better off getting your PS2 / PSTwo chipped. I have the Magic chip in my PS2 as well as the HDD (using HD Advance), and they kill USB Advance. I guess if you dont want to mod, and you have pleanty of time (to wait for it to load), then USB is the way to go, but note that not that many games work properly on it.
shit! it doesn't work on pstwo modded w/ the nh9 modchip. and i'm hesitant to turn off the macrovision in the modchip config menu co'z it might end up messing the modchip. so is there any other way i can boot this?

This is very important news for PStwo users, as it also means that the Swapmagic CD can be used to boot other homebrew apps on a no-mod PStwo. I'd strongly recommend trying this with LaunchELF or some other browser ELF renamed to SWAPMAGIC.ELF and installed as above. That should allow a no-mod PStwo the same amount of freedom as a no-mod PS2 would get through exploits.

Unfortunately that software does NOT work with all USB units, since it only works with with those logical drives that windows classifies as "Harddisk" types. Also, take care, since those logical drives include all non-USB harddisk partitions as well, with drive C being the preselected default !?!

I have tried the USB ADvance and could up to date not get one game to work. In the main menu the HD and games are recognised, but when I try to load a game it hangs on the "loading game" message. I have tried Rugby2005, GTA Sanandreas and Ratchet & Clank 3. I have noticed something interesting, when running the script "dir:\ul_format x format" it reformats the drive with the FAT32 file system. Is this correct, shouldn't it be NTFS?

I'm annoyed about the USBeXtreme disc keep spinning so I tried somthing....
I used Extreme installer to install USBAdvance on the USB HD.
Booted up with the Extreme disc, and selected USBAdvance, which run!!
Then I selected a game, which ran fine, using USBAdvance run from USBeXtreme.....still with me.... lol
Unfortunately the CD still kept spinning so the original USBeXtreme must have still had control. Still, nice to know I can boot homebrew stuff from USB.
If the USBAdvance gets developed more than USBeXtreme then I'll get Swapmagic.
BTW I have a V12, so even though USBeXtreme isn't brilliant, it's way better than nothing :-)

Well yeah it would be simpler than mounting the image...
But maybe you have better to do ;)

Wooh, cool, so I just got my swapmagic discs in. I did the whole thing with the swapmagic folder in my usb hdd, and usbadvance boots up. Now I just need to install a backup. One problem though, the installer aint working. It just...doesnt work... I open up the ul_install.exe but it closes right after. I noticed this happens alot in xp, with programs opening up the msdos promt.
Edit: I got it to work. Once it finishes installing god of war I'll try it out.

Are there incompatible drives?
I just tried with a Archos MiniHD (2,5" drive) and usbadvance boots and detects nothing... The disk needed a driver on windows xp which suprised me , maybe its the reason... Its a 6GB but there isnt any minimum capacity right?

Are you sure you've formatted it correctly to FAT32, not FAT16 or just FAT (==FAT16) ?
Some homebrews, like LaunchELF, will accept either of those formats, but USBadvance appears to require FAT32.

The hdd came formatted fat32. well...It already has files in it. I didnt reformat cause I didn't want to lose all my important files. Theoretically it shouldnt matter, but...maybe.

I formatted mine with the ul-format...(I checked its FAT32) and then transfered my game (flatetn GT4) then when USBadvance boots it says no device :-(

You dont really need ul-format. You can just format it any other way as long as you format it to fat32.
Weird, maybe usbadvance doesnt support our brand of hardrives.

Has anyone figured out why this happens?
could it be the type of harddrive?
I have tried for a week or longer to figure it out
I am about ready to give up if noone knows what the problem is

Apparently that is a mod-chip, with the same macrovision fix the Matrix Infinity has, but no way to disable it. (As needed for USBadvance.)
macrovision ? i don"t know
can you write clear ! thank you
Macrovision is a patented technique to distort video signals, with the purpose of causing recorded copies of that signal to fail (sync & AGC problems) when replayed, while not affecting the picture quality produced on a directly connected TV set.
Its purpose in the PS2 is to prevent the copying of DVD movies to videotape recorders. The "Macrovision Fix" of some mod chips prevents the signal distortion, making it possible to record the signal even when playing DVD movies. (But who wants to mess with tapes nowdays...?)

Did you remember to use the format tool to format the hdd on your pc before you put it into your pstwo, also if it still doesnt work it means that the usb device isnt supported on the pstwo, not all external hdd works due to this.

Hi everybody, i'm very n00b in pstwo modifications. My console has a chip (but i don't know which) . I've burned a .bin/.cue image of USB Advance and loads well, but when i plug my USB HD it hangs up. The USB Box is a Conceptronic, the HD is a Seagate Barracuda 80 Gb.
is there any compatibility list of that?
The compatibility list of hdadvance.com is not available.
Thanks.

Finally reset the system (when prompted) and you're all set.

than i change it back but stel it give the same massege and it is not booting the CD DVD game (not orgenal one (gold and silver sorface)) + CD-R

If your PS2 fails to boot any discs now, and started failing this way after your attempt to turn off the 'Macrovision fix', then that is probably because you don't have an original MI chip, but only a clone. For many such clones changing their settings is impossible, and the attempt to do so can kill the chip. This is a well known problem with the cheap clones, and has been mentioned here many times.
I'm sorry you didn't see those posts before your attempt, but there's nothing we can do about that now. If the chip is dead, as seems to be the case, then it must be removed to allow the PS2 to function properly again.
