Hi,

I have unmodded SCPH-70004 CB (European PAL) DVD player shows ver. 3.10E in System Config.
This DVD-player version i suppose is to be play 2 and 5 region CD-s.
I took from store 3 CD-s with marking 2 and 5 region onthem , coming home i found - SPTwo showing me, when i insert disc - "this CD cant be played due region settings mismatch.". After digging around in manus using some oher DVD disc i had at home and reading manual i hit finally Parental control place - and there to me is shown - Region 1 USA. I cant change it - no password set on PSTwo but still ..
There is sort of list of regions where both 2 and 5 fit to my location >
Estonia is located in Europe or in Old Soviet Union territory.

http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#1.10 (CTRL+F - serach: region)

Any suggestions what to do? To quarantee?

Isn't SCPH-70004 for Oceania ? (PAL region 4)
I think SCPH-70002 should be Region 2 (PAL region 2, Europe)

but funny enough 50011 (NTSC U/C for Mexico and central america) is NTSC Region 4 ;)

I wonder then what the last 2 numbers on the model means ...

Edit: Btw I don't know much about PAL units because they're incredibly scarce where I live (thanks god I hate PAL PS2s and PAL games lol)

SCPH-70000 (Japan)
SCPH-70002 (Oceania)
SCPH-70003 (UK)
SCPH-70004 (Europe)
SCPH-70011 (North America)
SCPH-70012 (United States)

goto this Link (http://gstimports.com/psx/ps2_versions.php); it has a pretty good idenification chart. as far as dvd regions go you can find a good chart here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code).

that chart is nice but hehe it's incomplete ;)

Have you ever heard about GH-014 ?
How about GH-016 ? This one isn't a V5 at all ! It's a V4 and lol it can use HD7 laser... Both boards I've seen only on japanese PS2s

Well all good cuz it has info on PAL consoles. I'm only familiar with NTSC ones. (JP and US ones mostly)
Ah and 70011 is for "Latin America" (Mostly Mexico) ;)

Also I'm positive there's the 70001 also. That one has dial up modem. I think in the 70012 they removed it.
