PS2 v10 DVD problems

I bought a couple of DVD's and tried playing them on my modded PS2 (v10) and all i got was the "Insert PS or PS2 type disc". I have a Magic5 chip installed and all other games work fine just these 2 dvd's. havent tried any other dvd's, will check and see. One disc is gold and the other is purple...dont know if that makes a difference.

maybe to press a button while ocnsole is booting up

i doubt it coz this is the latest mod chip and there arent any buttons to press while booting up different formats of discs. atleast none that i know of. All my other discs (PS2 backups) start up just fine

ok, i was just playing around with the reset button and found that if i start up my console holding the reset button, it wont boot up my backed up ps2 games giving me a "Insert PS or PS2 type disc" error. any ideas?
