4.37 gigs, works like a charm, talk about increasing the loading times on this one....man.
Bad ass. Does there look to be any chance of shrinking the file size of it?

I shrunk the game to about 1.9 gigabytes. I didn't find any dummy files - I just re-created the game image in CD/DVD Generator.

Maybe it has to do with the errors I got near the end of the install. My local blockbuster better have this game in today.

No online? Meh. I'm sick of waiting for something to tear me away from Socom 2. There's STILL nothing better.

Use Daemon Tools and mount the ISO onto a Virtual Drive ;)

Dumb question but I heard shrinking the game reduce the quality a bit, is that true?

No, it only eliminates empty disc space or dummy files, not game data.

I'm probably %50 through the game at this point on Mode 3, at 4 gigs size, with no errors and really quick loading times.

DonnieDark: is the game still unplayable for you now? did you try a recompiled image to see if that still freezes? i dont want to bother with this game on my hd if its going to freeze 50% through the game.

Is there a freeware or trial version of this CD/DVD Generator software? Looked around but didn't find anything. Thanks in advance.
Back to topic: I have it installed and have had no problems :).

I think CDGENPS2 is an alternative, freeware PS2 game image creation program. I used it to shrink a game a few days ago and it seemed to work fine.

I can get to the ESRB Content Rating Screen and then it freezes. I used CogSwap Loader by Hermers and I used HDloader but it still freezes.

Maybe the game I am using to swap isn't big enough. Would Grand Turismo 3 work okay you think?

02-20-2005, 03:07 PM
Might work Dark.. I would use a Grand Theft Auto disk if you have one.. Preferlly GTA San Andreas.. My copy of the game still works great.. Hasent crashed yet.. I guess Im one of the lucky ones..

Well I found out my TOC isnt big enough.
How were you guys saying you can shrink the game by replacing files or something?
And can you guys tell me how to do it too once I have my tools?

just copy all files in the disc to CDGENPS2, and save as ISO...

This game would benefit from having online support.... even for a 2 player co-op... but allowing up to 16 players.... taking who ever's side that they want... and helping that group (SK, Russians, China...) do their tasks...
I'd love to run into someone trying to proect a groups interests while I'm blasting away....
I hope they make a sequel... that has online support... or LAN support... so I could use X-link...
