View Full Version : How do I format the ROMLIST.TXT

I got the .elf file to load and got to the main menu. I found the GBC option at the bottom of the main menu, but when I selected it, it said something in French. I think the French was "Par De Roms"? I assume this means it can't find the roms.

How do I need to format the ROMLIST.TXT file so the program can find the roms? Should the roms be on the main directory (with the System.cfg file, romlist.txt and the .elf files) or should they be in a ROMS folder?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Okay, I'm missing some step. I have the emulator booting and it comes to a menu that looks like it will scan the CD. My .gbc roms are on the root drive as well as in a ROMS directory. I scan the CD and it sees my ROMS folder. I browse inside the ROMS folder and it does not see the .gbc files there either. "Par De Roms", whatever that means.

Hi,

I made 2 discs so far and both are not quite right. The first one I did, I put all of my roms in a folder called "Roms".

In cdgenPS2, I went:

SYSTEM.CNF
InfoGB.elf
Roms

I burned the disc, and it booted up fine, went to the roms folder and started trying some games out. When I scrolled down to the bottom of the list (it was not very long considering I had a lot of games on the disc) I started getting some jumbled characters. I assume this is because of the 30 file per folder limit the PS2 has.

I burned another disc the same way with cdgenPS2, this time with all of my roms in folders named Roms1, Roms2 etc, with only 30 files in each, and it still came out wrong, some games were repeating in the list, and some weren't there. So I will try another way and see if something else will work.

I think it's a great emulator in it's current stage.

how big is the image you made... you should put a large dummy file in it to push the data to the outside of the disc.... seems to help with CD setups..

i havnt tested the gb emu using cdvd.irx to autodetect the roms however i did with ps2pce. There seems to be some oddities to how not6 implemented the roms scanning.

make sure you dont have subdirectories, then not even the root dir will appear when scanning.
i used cdgenps2, try that.
add less than 128 roms to any dir. if your going to use more than one directory then seperate them in the root dir.

hopefully that will help

I can't get it to recognize any files.

I have my .gbc files on the root (using longer file names - do they need to be 8.2)?.
- It tried some shorter file name and it didn't make a difference.
I used cdgenps2 to create the image (I put the system.cfg file at 12231, then the .elf file, then the roms)
I burned the image using Nero (Level 2, Mode2).
I get the emulator to run...

It has some crazy menu on the first page with all sorts of obscure items.
The top item is scan CD, I try it and get Par De Roms (then the entry changes to Scan MC).
I try moving down to the PS2GB entry on the first page of the menu and it does the same thing (Par De Roms).

How are you accessing the games?
Any help is appreciated.

it's SYSTEM.CNF

and many ppl seem to think the ps2 can only read 8.3 filenames, but my ps2 can read anything :\ maybe i am special :?

pas de roms. more than likely you have done something wrong. as i said before its pretty picky about setting up your rom discs. hopefully someone can fix that. make a folder called "ROMS" add only a few roms, 5 or so. rename them to .gb to see if they work

Try shortening your rom names. I got it to work that way.

I want to clarify that my "Thanks for the obvious." comment was directed to Hypersonic. It's frustrating when you write up exactly what you did and someone jumps with a "Turn on your PS2" type of comment. I have the .elf file working, so my issue is obviously not the extension on the system file (which is added automatically in cdgenps2).

Thank you everyone else for your assistance. I will try shortening the names and then do a level 1 burn (for 8.2 format).

Any yes, Hypersonic, I will turn on my Playstation 2 when I try to load it.

I have a problem I burn the cd with system.cnf, infogb.elf, and 28 roms so when i try to play it on my Ps2 a message comes in screen it says "could load disc" in spanish "No se puede leer el disco", or something like that, what i'm doing wrong maybe somebody could put in this thread a cd image of the emulator for burning (then each one add the roms). Waiting for answer and hoping u better

i'm trying to help you and you shuffel shit in my face.
well you did say system.cfg.. it's an easy mistake to make, and if you did make that mistake the disc would not load at all. :( i don't know you, i don't know your level of expertise, and if you can't even make 1 disc run, the obviously the ".cnf/.cfg" could have been a valid mistake that you made!

my mistake was that i look back now and i didn't relalise you wrote "I get the emulator to run..."

if you think that system.cnf is the obvious, just look at this whole thread. it's not that hard to make 1 disc with roms and put it in your ps2. and if you have a hdd it's even easier.

so here's the situation, you can't boot 1 disc. you post here. people try to help you. then you insult them for trying.
