Grrr, I had like 2 gigs of music d/led, along with a lot of other stuff I don't feel like d/ling again. Anyways, I had this program called "errorguard." I used it a couple times before and it did help my pc. Last night I used it, and it told me I had a lot of errors (probably because I d/led a lot of music) so I cleaned my computer up. Clean it up, it even deleted some of my desktop icons (for whatever reason), my computer screwed up so I restarted...Restarted, and it WOULD NOT WORK!!! So, tried to restart it from the last good configuation, and it said my system32, or one of those windows files were not there. I could have just used my recovery disc to repair it, but unfortunately I didn't have it on me last night. So, I went to system recovery (on my computer) trying to fix it that way. It WOULD NOT WORK!!! So, this morning I wake up, and decide to try one more time...I got it to work! Yay!
BUT then I realize...Uhh, all my shit is deleted. My mom has usually taken care of these problems before with the computer, and I haven't had to bother with them. I know you can set your computer back whenever your missing files, etc (I know we've had those probs before), but can I get my stuff back without having to install/ dl all the stuff on to my computer again? and if so...how?

bah, cappy I'm sure those files are still their, I'm not exactly sure what happened, but you have to find some good recovery software (which might be kind of annoying on 56k) but it should work :/

Yeah...Wish I didn't live in the freakin boonies! That way I could get DSL, or cable. It's not available here in my area.
I already restarted d/ling some of the music again. I don't really care that I lost it, but the reason I d/led it was for somebody else. They had me d/l probably like 50 songs, plus I had stuff on my computer they wanted already, and they were suppose to come over today to get it...So, uhh...Don't see that happenin.
I'll go check up about HDD recovery software, and hope like hell that'll work. If not...It's not a HUGE deal, but I'm hoping it does work.

if you get GOOD recovery software and spend some time on it it should work...cuz when u delete files they're still on your HDD until you overwrite them which I highly doubt you have done yet...
but that software is uber expensive if you get my drift ;)

I got a couple program demos, and I have this one called "Restorer 2000." I found all the deleted files, BUT there's like a million files. How do I find the specific file? Does anyone have any suggestions, or have something they personally use to do this stuff?

i wouldnt recommend using any of those error fixing programs. they seem to pick up system files as errors which in result f*cks your pc up. i also wouldnt recommend using any spyware cleaning software either. they have the same problem. that sucks that you have to go through this and i feel for you. like theteiger said those good restoring programs cost $$$$$$. thats about all we can tell you to do. good luck because your gonna need it. ;)

Well, heres the thing now. I d/led REstorer 2000 Demo as it's suppose to be one of the best programs. I used it, found out where my files are located, then when on Bearshare and d/led the full version and got a registration number for it. The full version works, restores all my files, etc...BUT heres the weird shit. The music files are located in NTFS 0002...I can find that with the demo, but cannot find it with the pro version!!! I found everything else...NTFS 0000, 1, 3, 4....
The demo won't let you recover anything. I got other programs, but they kind of suck. I have about one more program that could just about do it if it can locate the right place.

LOL. Well, I figured out how to get them back the other day, and actually did, but then just decided against it. I had a couple programs. Anyways, one program restored them with there file names..I found like maybe 100 songs out of like 500, but still a few came back screwed up. Then, I found another program that found probably absolutely everything! BUT the only problem was it didn't have the file names!!!!! It said something like "recovered mp3 file" or something. It came up with like 8,000 audio files LOL. Although, I could have just selected for it to restore all the mp3 files over like 2 MB-6MB, and that'd be almost all the songs, and probably not a whole lot of other files. It'd still take time to rename them back, and listen to the music, etc. SO, I decided against it...Just took all the cd's I had, and loaded them back into my computer, and d/led the rest of the stuff that I had, but didn't have on cd (like 150 songs).
