Here is My PS2-SCENE.ORG skin it is pretty simple good compressed size.

HDL-Edit V0.5 beta Released by request from nyyrojo, this is basically a GUI version of my batch easier for noobs, unpacks, applies skins, patches, repacks, can edit color's and text (Now uses hdlpatch V0.7c).

yeah, that brought back some memories!

here is the template i promised. Its a quick and dirty grid for testing hdl backgrounds. simply add your background layer to see how it will look on your tv with the menu boxes. Remember not to save your bmp with the menu boxes active. it will look retarded on your tv. I have tested this PSD with photoshop and the gimp.

quick 5 minute hack

quick reminder. if you want to release your images then DO NOT USE JPG OR GIF. these formats reduce the image quality and leave small artifacts in your images. Larger televisions that stretch the image can see the artifacts and the images look horrible. Use BMP.

simple outer space theme. forgot the original wallpaper author but credit goes to him. I just recolored it and added lettering.

I zipped both splash screen and main images to save bandwith as the response to alot of the recent hdloadre stuff on our site is overwhelming. I encourage everyone from this point on to do the same.

what do you mean simillarity? the simillarity is that i made them. here is a pic of photoshop running the original layered images. the third image at the bottom is of one of the many many variations i did of the dms hdd explorer. this variation was one of my favorites. the scrolling hex pattern is dark blue and the dms logo has a glowing effect on all of the yellow letters.
take a close look at the layers menu at the bottom right. If those were static images those layers would obviously not exist.

I made alot of images for different ps2 projects, many are dead but others are still alive and well. :)

I was woundering, how big should the elf file be after I inject the BMP files? AS the orignal packed file seems to half the size of the new one with the BMP's injected.

Ok I think I may have figured out a bit of a trick for keeping the final ELF file size down. After you inject the new BMP's.
First you need a half decent paint program Paint Shop Pro is what I used, you reduce the colour to 16million then to 265 Colours then put it back up to 16million, its still using 256 colours but it sizes up to the normal 16million colours file size. If you do it correctly you wont really notice any difference in you image, and it will compress allot better.
Hope this bit on info helps out..

it's hard cause a) i'm looking at the dms3 config screen from my tv and trying to match the colours and b) i'm tossing up a big header vs the usual title bar then text. new version will come soon. i hope g doesn't mind me doing this :|

This is a super simple menu bitmap, made to optimize packing, and also to make the expanded game title list of the new patches more readable. With an equally simple splash picture (taken from an earlier post in this thread), the resulting ELF file packs to 163 KB.

Great for memory cards. :)

heres one i created using a windows xp "template". ive only made the menu. the only problem is that one would have to go about chaing the color of the text of the list of games and so forth because of the white and light colors. and i also have not tested it out, so i have no idea what it would look like on a television. if anyone could post a screen shot of the menu on a tv, it would be appreciated.

i've played around with the color routines in hdadvance and here's a "proper colors" patch. its meant to show how it can be done.
the color routines (by zer0-x) are included in the readme along with a small tutorial on how to create iif images with alpha channels.

Here is a BMP of a font I've made for injection into your .ELF with the new patch.

Wasn't too happy with the fonts that came from the font builder app so thought I'd make one myself.

It's fixed width because I couldn't work out how to create a custom width .DAT file.

I also haven't yet bothered doing the lower-case letters, so it's really a work-in-progress.

Lastly, if someone could let me know if I've missed any vital characters, I'd be grateful - so far I've only tested it on the screen that warns you of having no hard drive connected as mine's still in the postman's sack!!!

Wasn't there someone who custom built there own removable HD rack. The thing looks like its a part of the ps2. External IDE and power for the thing. USB would be almost perfect for something like that. If he started selling them I would no dout have one.

Burnout meets Crash'n'Burn HDLoader Skin :) :) :)
It looks really cool with modified (colour) HDL boxes.

Can any of you fix the AVP splash and menu because i cant shrink it to the right size, and its in jpeg not bmp thanks

I'm guessing you have ntsc and thats why it doesnt fit so I done another with the right screen size.
Also if you are using the big games list patch let me know and I'll sort out the menu so it fits.

My favourite game is Alpine Racer 3 :D ...yes, i know its no the favourite of all ther people :p but i supose it can be a great game for someone :lol: for this. extremely rare and extraordinary type of people whe put it!!

The second is a memory conservative bmps for use with Keylauncher...another of my favourites tools...when injected Hlodader only uses 218Kb :).

My PS2 HD Loader skin. Inspired by the Playstation website. Damn colours for the menu and font took forever and I didn't even need it to UL the skin lol

Looks best with no borders and the textbox colour being dark grey. I used a lighter grey for button highlights and the scrollbar. I used white text and a deep yellow for highlighted text (see color.txt)

Best to edit the install menu to avoid status bar expansion although it still expands slightly (see HDtext.txt)

EDIT: Updated files so things are more aligned. Some errors in colour as well.

My goal was to have min size (mc exploit) and original hdloader graphics. I've got the original splash (edited), but the original main didn't fit with the bigger game list. Instead I listed the patches I used--helpful when you're supporting friends. MC size: 245kb.

Here's "my" skin. Based on the original HDLoader skin. Made as small as possible (185KB with ToxicOS 0.2 core). Works great with the large file list :)

The splash screen is just black with white text that says "Loading...". No need for a preview pic ;)

I thought I would make a new Skin for the .6b patched HD Loader. Since it now has Dual Layer support I decided to call it HD Loader -DL.

Any way, here's my rendered images that I skinned my HD Loader with once I patched it to .6b.

My menu screen is not so hot (I like the menu to be pretty plain) but the two splash screens aren't so bad.
