alright I have a V7 is there a pic with the solder points? I've looked at this one http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=4901 and it doesn't seem to have the same layout as my board

dude that is the same lay out as your board... that board is the bottom board next to the harddrive metal casing.... trust me... i have a version 7 also..but u cant solder the led right to that point cuz uits 12v and will blow your led if its put on direct

Yes I know I can't go direct I have a resistor and for the most part the diagram looks the same but there are some points on my board that aren't on the diagram

it does nto matter, its the same points , look for the 4 solderpoints ined up in da same area as the pic... its there, and if u still cant findit... look inbweet the PSU board and your ps2 motherbaord and ull see a wqhite cnnector connecting the 2 boards that white connector is where the 4 points are, use those exact 2 and ull have 12v and a ground

alright the points are there but I didn't know if since my board was a lil diffrent maybe it required diffrent points but I guess not thx for clearing that up...

What do you mean? I did solder the LED to the 2 points on the power supply board and it works... unless u are talking about something else
