aight , here we go... fianlly finished it... thanks to the 2 points that "Purple Penguin" pointed out to me. im gonna also paint my memory card when i get time....
its just the normal sony ps2 memory card... i cut out the bottom square where the silver sticker was. put a piece of clearplasic as a window.... the soldered on the blue LED... i used a 5mm because the red 3mm that i had was not bright so i just used my dremel tosand it down a little bit...fits perfect now.... look at the pics

I guess you don't need it now, but heres a crappy drawing of where I soldered my LED point to.
also, just a quick note. a PS2 memory card will fit inside a PS1 memory card's case. and you can get PS1 memory cards a dime a dozen now. that's how i got my clear case.

Has anybody figured out how to get the activity LED mod working?

they took the motors out ., each side holds a AA battery, but i was at radio shack today and i seen a ps2 contorller, it has a wire but it glows blue. they also had green, and the whole plastic glows while your playing... looked pretty cool and its only $20

dude
take off your cover
look into the memory card bay... check the pins to see if u bent them, that happen to me also at first but then the sanded down the solder point alittle bit and also put a piece of plastic in the memory card to provent it from sliding back in the memory card case...

Here's my blue LED DS2, used original red LED housing but with a blue surface mount LED behind it. It looks like a totaly stock controller but with a PS2 matching blue LED.

I did the same thing with my controllers only I used a regular rectangular blue led and it came out really nice. Only problem is making sure I don't look directly into the led at night when playing online...it's bright as hell! ;)

Where did you find a rectangular blue LED?

Actually it came with a set of pc speakers I bought, it was flashing on the front of the box. Do a little search on google, I know I've come across them being sold online before.

What did you use to cut that slot into the card? I'd like to do that to my mem card to brighten up my activity LED.

You mean the little hole for LED ?
If so, I used Electric Drill & Grinder (Bionic AD-19), ideal for PCB boards.

Can we get a diagram for what u used and whats connected where.
Picture looks like you have 3 leads going to 0ne lead of the LED.
U also dont use the other capacitor.
Diagram would be nice.
Thanks

now does this couse the LED to light all the time or only when data is written and read. looks like your using a transiter that is tied to a data line to couse the LED to pulse. i could be wrong of course i'm not an electronics expert just looks like that to me. and if it doesn't pulse the LED is there a way to make an LED pulse when data is written and read from a card that would be more usfull to me for an LED mod then just having it lit on the memcard.

Hmmm....I put 2 LEDs in my wireless air flow controller...but that was really easy.....i regular controller would be cool. I know that Ben999 changed the red led to a green led that he had in a floppy drive.
I am decicing if i am going to change the led and if so i will do it on a psx first...ill keep you posted

what would be cool is to get a transparent PS2 controller and put LEDs through out it link it to a circut that that is hooked into the pressure sensitive feed so they flash or blink differant ways and timings depending on the pressure you use on the buttons also have a set hooked to pulse in time with the rumble motors.

It is a MPS2222A NPN Transistor, Part # 276-2009 from RadioShack (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F011%5F002%5F017%5F000&product%5Fid=276%2D2009&hp=search) $0.69

Does This Also Work for PSX cards? Seems the power or ground shouldnt change. Can anyone confirm?

Sure, it is the real thing, but it is very hard to do...
Can you tell me what I need to buy and do because I have not idea what all those resistors, capacitors and LEDS are doing.
