was at a friends house today, and we were trying to watch "ichi the killer the anime" on his v7 (39001). Every time we put the disc in and booted it up, it would give us an error that said "tv format does not match." anyone every got this error before? the dvd is region 1 ntsc, so this makes even less sense, and it only did it with that dvd.

I've seen it before.. when I put a PAL disc in my NTSC PS2/TV. Is his PS2 modded? Did you try to run the movie in chip disable mode?

the system isnt modded. Dont mean to sound like a jackass, but do you read, i clearly said its a region 1 ntsc dvd. Its not a Pal tv or a Pal dvd.

its a japanese movie in american format and region (region 1 ntsc), not region 2 ntsc j, so that shouldnt matter. I can play it on any other system, including my v3, my dvd player, and my computer. Just thought it was wierd that it did that on my friend's ps2 in the first place.

I have this same problem with a NTSC DVD (Family Guy S2). Season 1 and 3 work find but 2 says TV system doesn't match so i used some DVDRegion thing and i've used all modes and it says the same on them all. It also does this to a dvd I authored with Ulead DVD Workshop (NTSC format). This is a v4 PS2...and it does the same in my new PSTwo. What's going on?
