Hey all. This was posted on the main forums way back when several years ago, but since there is now a case modding forum, i felt like sharing it again. I made this case mod aout 3 years ago (as you can tell by the old ass magic chip). The paintjob is done with silver and a metallic blue, and it was done by colorconsoles.com. The Magic chip has been laser cut in the back and the wires are connected from the back behind the points and therefore the wires cant be seen. It is connected, and is a functioning chip. The chip placement is right in the way of the fan so that helps with the cooling, as we all remember that chip had cooling problems.
I was taking organic chemistry at the time in college, so i used that orbital pc grill frame. I thought its a cool case mod. Just felt like sharing it with you all again.
The light is a mini cathode, and Charlie_Ps2 personally helped me out find the points to get that light to work. Sure its old news now, but remmeber we did this 3 years ago before shoving a cathod in a ps2 was common. So i thank him for that as always, and wish him luck on his pending legal woohah. One pics shows the light on, the other with the light off
I was going to do the same thing in red, but i got bored with this design so i decided not to. I am planning something else. I was going to do one for the DMS3 team, but they blew me off, so i wont really feature their chip in my next design cause I dont want them to get any free advertisng. The Mars chip i think is nice cause its a nice shade of white, but I liked the original DMS3 which was a nice blue/purple. But I wont unless they give me some chips.
