Hi, i have don very many modchip installs but maybe i messed up on this one. I just modded a V9 with DMS3 chip(not plus). When i press the reset button the red light becomes green for about a second, and then goes back to red. And thats it. No power or anything. Please help as this is not my PS2. Thanks in advance.
can be caused by the power is touching ground. just take off power and ground clean up aroudn there then make sure everythgin is clean test ps2

I had the same problem the first time I did a MagicV 50K on a V9. my power wire was damaged somewhere in the middle and I just soldered a brand new one on there and it was fixed :D.

The ground wire was fine and it was shorting out with the power. I'll try try liquids idea

I just used a dmm to check resistance about 2 ohms between the power and ground. Does that mean that they're shorted together?

anyone?
well it can be caused by being shorted. shorted will be 0 resistance. Clean up the power and ground points on the board

Look here http://www.dms3.com/cgi-bin/dms3/diagrams.pl?view=../../dms3/files/chips/DMS3_Diagrams/dms3_v9_diagrams is the other metal pad right bellow the ground also ground, or is it something else? There's a small chance my ground could be touching it

just do what we're telling you and not making it more hard on yourself, dont even use that ground connector, the ground connector I and almost everyone else uses is the orange border around the outside of the ps2 main board, its 100% safe to use and is better. solder a completely NEW power wire and redo cd/dvd if the problem is not fixed because that may be causing it buy I think mine and loy's advice is what you should take. we both mod alot of ps2s so we would know.

Is it ok to solder the wires I,H,G,F,D to the pins instead of the copper pads?

use the pins then, try removing the whole mod to see if the problem persists and if it does then you got a bridge or a solder splash somewhere.

I removed the whole chip. It still does this. Could a bridge with the large component next to the sceX point have anything to do with it? I might have a bridge there but it looks like they;re connected anyway.

I used the pins in the first place
Uhm, I thought these symptoms means that the LA chip is burnt? Can you press eject eug900?

If i press eject it does the same thing

check for bridges on the cd/dvd controller pins

There are no bridges there

lol - had the same problem - the damn dms cant stick to regular pad names like gnd and 3v.
u prolly mixed up gnd and power (switch points A and B)
it's a common problem around the power or ground area of where u soldered to. take the chip off clean up
test ps2s then reinstall

I had this problem twice and fixed it in less than 5mins, was a tiny hairline bridge on the cd / dvd pins.

This is why I prefer vias. =)
