Play mpeg files with no modchip/HD?

Hey, I was wondering if their was a way to play MPEG files with no modchip/HD Loader?

I have X-Port.

there isn't currently a way to play mpeg files, nor can it play VCDs. YOu can, however, reencode your mpegs to divx, which ps2reality media player 1.50 can play decently enough.

Anyways, at the divx website, you can get a program called dr. divx, which is free for 30 days. it really couldn't get any easier to convert it than with that, just specify input, output, and wait.

Alright, I can do that, but then how would I get the file onto the PS2 Memory card (or w/e) to watch?

No, I don't have a monitor, but my PC is in the living room.

If you have an Xploder/Gameshark V5, you can copy the .mpeg file to a USB hardrive/flashdrive and play it, the media centre supports MPEG1/2.

I don't have a USB Hardrive/Flashdrive..would I just be able to burn it to a disk and play it that way?

yes, go to google, look up PS2reality tutorial. its easy as pie. but you will need a swap CD, like gameshark or Swapmagic+cdloader

Well, I am prob. going to buy swap magic.

I have a gameshark, but I made the mistake of getting the latest version (at the time), which was 2.4, which sadly does not allow to do the swap becuase no matter what you do, it automaticly opens up the fucking try (which defeats the purpose).

You could buy QCast which streams media from your computer over the network on the PS2.. You can watch MPEGs, DiVx, anything really.. Even plays MP3s

so get that newer version called gameshark media player!! it can even fard forward and rewind ^_^

Thats what I mentioned in one of my other posts. Can you save media to the disk and play it from the disk?

do ya have a Dreamcast....DC is easier when it comes to this since they don't really require you to have a modchip on your system...but then if you were gonna get a modchip anyway there's no point in going back to DC....

action replay max evo has a mediaplayer, i think that plays mpeg from cd, you can use umcdr too so you dont need a mod

If you use the Gameshark media player, jus set your cd drive(s) as allowed and you can save files to cd, jus put them in the tray. if you have to cd drives you can stick both disks of a vcd and watch them continously.. works great for me. jus make sure, if you make a vcd, rename the movie file to *.avi (instead of *.dat) or else the GSMP won't recognize the file format.

in the server setup menu on your PC, I think I had to type in E:\ manually though, but it worked great. next task is to figure out how to redirect a *.dat file on an already burned VCD as an *.avi without copying the file to the HD??? :chinscrat
