looks really good, instead of using the L brackets to hold it together, u could use a square cube of plexiglass in the corners, 1"x1"x1" , put it in the corners and secure it with a screw on each side...l  ess metal...more glass

i haven't seen any 1" thick sheets of acrylic locally, but if i can find one i'll do it, i wanted it to be completely clear but couldn't find anything that would hold the plexi together strong enough and still look good, any other ideas?

go to a glass store. they might sell thickl plexiglass... but u might be able to use bullet proof glass, its like 2"think, u can cut it into cubes to fit..... or just order a clear plexiglass PC case... it comes with these squares lol but thats $80 lol

yeah, i'm not $80 worried about it, if anyone wants to donate some of those cubes i'm willing to take them off of your hands.... maybe i'll look for something to use to make some out of this weekend...

get some plexiglass squares cut 1" by 1" , and just melt them on top of eachother to reach a 1" thickness.... kindda like they make bullet proof glass.

you dont need bulletproof glass, you can find some places that sell sheets of plexiglass on the net for pretty cheap. It can easily be cut, drilled and can even be bent by placing it in your conventional cooking oven. If you want to paint it you can simply sand and use krylon spraypaint for plastics.
You dont need bullet proof grade though, lol.

how would you go about "melting" them and how good do you think they would hold together? maybe i could find some glue that holds decent and dries completely clear and glue a couple sheets toghter... i dunno

lol i said bullet proof glass because its thick, but yea he made a good pint, bend the plaxi glass into L's to replace your brakets, just drill holes be4 u bend....

<G> we're just trying to figure out where to get some 1" or thicker sheets to make some 1" x 1" cubes to replace the ugly metal L brackets i used...

ah i see, my mistake then.

though i still wouldnt use that to mount the hdd. i would make the box very small and then use very dense foam seating tape, this way the HDD will stay in its place inside of the case and the foam will absorb the vibration of the drive. :p

cut out sum regular plaxiglass 2"x2"...... drill holes, then heat up and bend...seems kool for clear L brackets

<G> i have the hdd mounted straight to the bottom of the box, i've been using this setup since about a week after hd loader came out, and haven't had any vibration problems..... p.s. i have the enclosure sitting on it's side with the two led;s on the top if maybe that makes any kind of difference

really? i figured the hdd would rattle away while its in a case like that, its good to hear though.

by the way, plexi or acrylic can be softened and molded if you put it in an oven at 450 degrees F, for 10 mins. you can lay the plexi on top of a mold and it will form around it. cloth and wood is a good mold that wont stick.

i cut part of the NA away so that the 2 extensions would have room, if you don't cut enough it will not set right to the ps2 and you may have some problems... i can post some pics if you want...
