I know v7 are good but I have a chance to buy a 500001 ps2 brand new for $80 and I just wanted to know, if I put the magic case on the ps2 will it last just as long as if I were to just play originals on it with out the case?

Yes thats a great price. However,for any backups I would suggest a modchip and the romeo mod done. Its the reading of the DVDR media that puts the strain on the laser and heats up the LA chip.
