xenosaga and hdloader

i have the xenosaga dvd5 rip from kalisto with ntsc pal selector, since in the compatibility list this is shown as ok with hdloader.
i can load xenosaga 1, but when i select new game, i just end up in a black screen with only a radar, i can go to the menu and can soft reset, but thats all.
any ideas?

I had the same problem. I forgot what i did to fix it, but it does indeed work after you get out of that black/radar screen.

Enable Mode 2 and see if that fixes it.

has anyone figured this out? i'm having the same issue with my own flattened image of my retail dvd9 disc. :banghead: tried all 8 combos with the modes. most of 'em just go to the screen with the radar after selecting 'new game'. when just mode 2 is enabled, i cannot even get to the screen with the radar. it freezes even before that (at the start screen). :mad:

I've got it working on the hdd... just copy all the files to the harddrive and make an iso using cdgen. Hdl doesn't seem to be very picky.

word! that worked neolestat! the directions i was following said to reorder the files according to the file lists i got from apache, but that seems to be what screwed it up! :mad: just adding the files in alphabetical order has worked so far. the opening sequence of cut-scenes and initial battles, etc. has worked fine, hopefully the rest of the game will too (i've already beat it so i won't be playing it all the way through again, yet). anyway, thanks.

Same here with DVD9 image, black screen with radar. Going into the menu won't show the characters, items, option, etc. It seems like starting a new game it doesn't work properly. The funny thing is loading an older savegame it works like a charm.
