View Full Version : How does DNAS technology work?

I don't get it? If you look at the patches the way the work is you get a disc ID off of an original and then patch your ISO to reflect the disc ID. How could that possibly work? Why wouldn't the ISO have the same disc ID as the original? They are just inside of the IMG files?
The only conclusion I can come to is that DNAS msut log disc ID's and then if one is logged on multiple connections they ban it? But then they risk the off chance that an original can get banned from online play.
Let me know if you guys know anything more about DNAS verification.

Okay I figured it out if any of you care. DNAS only checks to see if you have an original Disc ID. It in no way is game specific meaning that, DNAS server is one central server for the US and i'm sure there are others for other countries mainly for speed reasons. Basically if you take your Disc ID from one of your original Dnas games and patch your ripped or burned iso to reflect that orginal games disc ID it will work. Again Disc IDs are in no way game specific.
Don't believe me here..... http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/99724
Me personally though I think you guys should just buy your games, instead of modding but hey thats just my two cents. I basically use my mod for homebrew stuff.

What I don't get is when you rip the game why won't the DNAS id's go into the image file and get put on the disc automatically when you burn it.
