Just wondering, what's everyone's taste in music? Personally, I'm all about metal and harder types music. Some of my favorite bands are Slayer, Pantera, Down, Gwar, Old Metallica, Megadeth, Black Label Society, Cannibal Corpse, In Flames, Black Sabbath, etc. They all influence me and the music I write. I play lead guitar in a metal band called Old Number 7.

I like just about everything, including classical (Mozart , Bethoven etc...) but I'm not big on rap or Metal. I prefer stuff where you can actully make out the words, and the words arn't something like...

I got a big dick and I shot my mom.

just my personal taste though

http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/jam2.gifAlternative Rock Music:
- 311 (yeah relaxation baby), Bush, Filter, Hoobastank, some Limp Bizkit, Staind, some Sublime & ect...
(even "Third Eye Blind", nothing better to listen 3YB or Incubus in a rainy Day with a female friend indoors!)
(Really active)

Spanish Rock:
- Robi Rosa (Robi Draco), Mana, Enanitos Verdes & ect...
not pretty much active on this one but sometimes I listen a little bit of Robi...

Reggae:
- Bob Marley & The Wailers
(active)

Spanish Reggae\Hip-Hop from Puerto Rico: ("Reggaeton", "RaggaetonSex", "ExtacyReggae")
- Well mostly these are DJ albums with a lot artists, sometimes singles.
Mostly these music is, bits of reggae with hardcore rap lyrics & a lot contact with the girls!!! :D
(active)

Hip-Hop\Rap:
- Old-School shit like LL-Cool-J, Beasti Boys & ect...
*I got tired of listening the same shit all the time (I know where I'm coming from!!!), with the exceptions of Cypress Hill (Stoned Riders...) & some Snoop Dogg!!!*
(I forgot, "Fugees" & the first one of "House of Pain")

Dance Music: (house, trance, & ect..)
- Anything that sounds good & gives me energy (BUT there's nothing like a good freaking E-Guitar & hard kicking drums) or a "Music-nymph" that makes me dance!!!
At the club or practice, but I'm a little fucktup from an injury now.
(injure list hehe)

(In addition, don't forget to support your local "backyard bands")

If not why bother ???

Sorry i gotta say its all about the Jungle !!!!
It is a Good vibe that cheers you up when your feeling down,
Unlike some of the newer hip-hop that just depresses ppl

Goth is good on days that end with "y"....what I don't like is a better question....I don't like "Lite" rock, I HATE acid jazz, I can't stand idiots like those fools on "American Idol", Bubblegum music makes me ears bleed (bye bye bye Backend boyz!), and that crap that is dismissed for "Top 40" music...top 40 by whom??? I'm a huge Rap and R&B fan... My nick doesn't actually come from Snoop Doggy Dogg, although I like his older music (DoggyStyle Album). His new stuff is way to trippy for me. Gimme some classic 2Pac, a touch of Ice Cube and a splash of Old Skool Original Ganster Ice T and I'm in heaven :D

Doens't offend me. You would actually be surprised. Most of those bands don't worship Satan at all. It's all about image. I listen to that music heavily and I'm not out killing cats and performing rituals. I may dress a bit differently but that's in who you are. To each his own. :)

Hmm well I can't really pinpoint what genre I like...
Favorite band ever: Linkin Park
I also like Good Charlotte, Goldfinger, 3rd Strike, SR-71, Disturbed, Less than Jake, Trustcompany, and Hoobastank a little.
I'm not really what anyone would call a punk...
I hate country, pop, reggae, the type of rap that's most common (2pac and all those guys), blues, classical... Heck I hate everything. The type I most dislike would have to be pop or angry death music. I can't stand those pop ppl like nick carter. And I can't stand bands like Hatebreed and stuff.

Actually Linkin Park is great, but they almost always talk about the same thing... and that's the only thing that I don't like in their original album. Hey but I really dig their style it pump you up.

Hate, too much hate!!!

What I don't listen, I ignore. Hate is "deep" man; the same goes to everything that I don't like, I ignore... (hate only "drain" you, dude) In addition "Hate", well if you use it "the wrong way", it "drains-you" (you just keep thinking about it...), but if you use it right, it can help you on the way & give you strength at "the right time". (I little view that now I see, "hate" is not bad after all if you're wise)!!!

Funny because my cousin used to dislike hard rock, especially the very aggressive e-guitars, and now that's what he digs, but that "very aggressive e-guitars" wasn't nothing, the reason was that back then he didn't like it at all. Like he says, "as long as I understand what they're saying, is cool". "Is not because is "popular", but because I like it". "Always see through your own Eyes". Funny when I see artists copying the same style of another artist, "you can take it as an example, but "customize" it to yourself, otherwise it will turn me off". (I going to cut it out in here, I'm getting too "corrupted" by my cousin's "views"... hehe) :D

Personally I don't like music , but if somebodies listening to something (anything) then i'll listen to it with them. Just don't see the whole point in sitting around listening to music, and especially think those Heavy Metal concerts are retarded. A bunch of weird looking people gather in a big place to listen to some crazy bastard play his guitar, and then beat it off the stage. GUess i'd be more of an outcast though for not liking music.

All of the music that I listen is while doing something, some music pump me up while doing "something".

And the "clubs" you listen music while you dance; is "dumb" to listen music while doing nothing, unless you're keeping yourself down & like that special song!!!

You like girls shaking their "thing"? I love it!!!

BUT whatever make somebody being alive "in here", doing things that doesn't affect somebody else, but yourself...

Guess I just mostly like peace and quiet alot more than listening to music. I enjoy lifting weights, and you don't need music to pump you up for something like that. Using your own mind is plenty. Nothings wrong with music, but guess I just don't understand the point of it other than dancing of course to express yourself, but lots of my freinds sit around the house all day and just listen to music which I find that the biggest waste of time. I could see if you yourself are planning on growing up to be a rockstar.

Primenal,

There you go YOU like "peace and quiet alot more than listening to music". "I enjoy lifting weights, and you don't need music to pump you up for something like that." That's your choice & desire!!! "Using your own mind is plenty." Again your choice & desire; they're a few things that I like to concentrate in peace & quiet, but you got to remember that everyone is different, your "profile" isn't anyone else's profile. I can use music for: relaxation, energy & ect... "plenty", I don't like limitations (who knows the plenty that I don't know yet)...

Hmmmm using your mind is plenty, OK do this, think about a girl that you really like, then see that girl in person, & tell me if thinking about that girl got the same results than seen her? (if, no offence but I don't know your sexual preference, otherwise you know that I'm just joking)

I hope that I'm not being rude, just making a point that everyone is different, even that some People may say this, but they don't really know the meaning... BUT most important is that whatever makes you "going" "in-here", doing things that doesn't affect somebody else in a negative way, that's what's all about, being you in a comfortable way!!!

Music complements emotion. Simple as that. Think about how games use music to make the game better....

I understand that some people music makes them relax and everything, but what about heavy metal and shit like that? That couldn't possibly be relaxing to anyone. Anyways as I said I don't hate music (of any kind) and if someones listening to something i'll gladly listen to it with them and pretend it's great ;) , but don't understand the point of turning on MTV and sitting on the couch and listen to music all day like lots of people do. Guess though if that's what they like to do then it's alright, but I think it's a waste of time personally. I do think it's a good idea in games though to set the mood for things using music. If you don't understand the point of something you really don't have no feeling to do it. Kind of like telling a kid to make his bed everyday even though he sees no point in it cuz it's going to be messed up again that night (like me):) .

Joe Mama

Whoah now... Different strokes for different folks man. Some people are actually relaxed by Heavy Metal and "Shit like that" Believe it or not, its not always about the 'noise' as some may call it. The lyrics might have a deep meaning (or may make no sense at all) I like to listen for the artistic and creative values of the musicians themselves and what they bring as individuals to make the band sound the way it does. That is why I LOVE most of Les Claypools material. (Primus, Oysterhead, Flying Frog Brigade) But... Not everyone is going to agree with me (just ask my wife) I can personally fall asleep with metal playing in the background... (But thats me)

We get it bro & I respect that; heavy metal, if I don't understand what they're going, then I don't get into. Actually sometimes when I know what "some band" are in a mission to only show you from their deep personal views, like their "religion", even that it could sound good, but it really turn me off dude (don't put me your deep shit in my face!!!). Hey I try to respect somebody else's religion or views, but when mine's (my eyes, not religion, you could say I don't represent one but my own eyes) & theirs come in different ends, then that's something that can get my self piss off or ignore. I know that I quote in my signature "Always see through your own Eyes", but what that means is see Life ONLY with your eyes... I borrow that from my cousin, because it's really helpful, but again like he says "what's good to me, doesn't have to be good to somebody else, also it doesn't mean that my solution can be the same, but customized for your self"; something like that. MTV, society says that there's a "MTV Generation", then don't include me there because I didn't grew up watching MTV, even that I saw it a few times & I can understand a kid that doesn't have anything else but to watch TV & it gets addictive to something like MTV, but I couldn't understand that a few years ago.

Sometimes when you do that though, you can become one sided and lose understanding.
As for metal, it's taste.
And it too can be real deep. Listen to "One" by Metallica or better yet watch the video. If you don't say "whoa" after that then I don't know what can get through to you.:p Not that I'm trying to change opinion or anything. And I'm not a metallica fan.

Just like movies or tv really.

Well, actually is what make sense to you, keep you happy (nothing negative), alive & you don't lie to yourself!!! Some people do stuff to make somebody else happy, even though they don't like it. I keep it real, I don't dig that... What I mean about lying is living a comfortable Life, meaning DO NOT DO STUFF THAT DOES NOT MAKE YOU HAPPY, that's not living. (I can list a bunch of stuff that I see around, deep inside you know what I'm talking about, if not open your eyes and see how many unhappy people you see because of it!!! ) Otherwise lying is a part of the human nature. :D

Anyway we're getting away of the topic, open the thread, Life...

Primenal
12-04-2002, 06:35 PM
Well, sometimes you lie because you care about someones elses feelings and that's a good to do. Like say you goto a freinds house, and his mom makes dinner and asks you to eat. So you say sure. She asks you how you like it? Nobody in the right mind would say "it sucks!" So sometimes to lie is a rightful thing. Also to get back on the the topic of music, and especially watching MTV. I see no point in sitting on your damn couch all day, and watching MTV. MTV has I think some of the most stupidest shit on it. Only thing I actually like is watching JackAss every now and then cuz I find it pretty funny, but don't even hardly like it anymore. I stayed with my sister (who loves music) for like a week in the summer, and she watches MTV just to see the countdown of the favorite songs (which I think is retarded) who cares what the majority of people think the best song is? She also watches that stupid shit The Real World and whatever that other 1 is called. Kind of like those stupid soap operas. Guess I think most everything on T.V is shit. I do watch some comedy shows, and boxing sometimes, but other than that don't really watch T.V

Or not.. Listen to anything by GWAR. 'Ham on the bone' for example, a song about the time being ripe, and crack in Oderous's pipe. Does he really mean this? I doubt it. Or how about 'Black and Huge' now do you think he really has a huge black cock? No! Hes a white guy from Richmond VA. So in essence what Im trying to say is - dont always take music so seriously. (Alot of musicians dont - just ask Kurt Cobain)
