I have a sort of "fake" Jap PS2 that only works with Japanese PS1 games now cuz my PS2 Utility Disc Version 1.01 broke. Does anyone know how I can get another one, or how I can maybe make my PS2 work?
I attached a pic of the broken "PS2 Utility Disc"

Im sure you allready thought about this but, the only thing I can think of is to call Sony and tell them that your Utility disc broke and you would like a replacement..
If there not total :dick: then they should give you one.. All you should need to do is pay for shipping...
Other then that I cant think of anyother way..

how would the utility disc affect any gameplay?
the utility disc lets you load DVD drivers [for dvd movies] onto the memory card, and only the scph10000 did not come with those. without the drivers, the only thing it cannot playis dvd movies, and all ps2/psx[psone] games play. ut sounds like a bad laser or something along those lines. do ps2 cd games play? if so then its the laser's dvd diode that went out.

THE UTILITY DISC WILL NOT LET YOU PLAY BACKUPS/BURNED GAMES, AND YOU CAN ONLY DO SO WITH A MOD OR WITH THE SWAP TRICK. So please stop asking!

I thought I would take my reply to here instead of the PM. The 15000 model will allow you to play burnt or US originals. However, I'm a little confused....here you state that you can play burnt PSX games, but in the PM you said you can only play Japanese PSX games. Which is it?
What I need for you to do is clarify is how you play your PSX games right now or the exact process of how you are supposed to play PS2 games from the guy you bought it from. Do you know if there is a mod-chip inside?
You're not resticted to only using the Util Disc as your swap disc....you can use any Japanese Original PSX and PS2 Game (CD and DVD) to boot what you want.
I've setup my 10000 model originally to do a Tray-switch swap, but that depends if you're daring enough to do it. answer the questions above and we'll take it from there.
And the CD-protector films are to protect your discs from scratches while swapping..but I'll go into that later.

I can only play burnt Japansese PSX games. All I do is load them in the cd tray and press reset twice. Now I was told from the guy I bought it from that to play PS2 Burnt games I need to load the Utilty Disc and press reset twice.

sorry correction: when I play burnt PSX games I press reset 4 times, and to load PS2 games with the Utility Disc I have to press reset 2 times.

I take the burnt PSX game. I put it in the cd tray, press eject to close it then press reset 4 times. That's all the steps. And to play burnt PS2 games I was told I am suppose to put the PS2 Utility Disc Version 1.01 in the cd tray, press eject to close it then press reset 2 times. Then something will appear and I have to swap it with the burnt PS2 games. That's all.

My 10k's never had utilties discs, but I have copies of the first 3 builds of it, but the exe won't load up on my DTL-H10000's, but then, they aren't "PlayStation2" consoles, they're "debugging stations", and none of them has dvd players. I can send you a copy of that if you need it to set up your dvd player, and can boot it off something else, would that help?

Actually...debug/dev machines never did. ALL v0s came with Util Discs.
10000 - v1.00, v1.01
15000/18000 - v1.01

18000 didnt have a utility disc, it was the first v0 with a complete bios and the dvd drivers loaded on before being sold.

if your U.D has broken there is no quick solution for your problem unfortunately. U.D's are quite rare nowadays. My suggestions are:
1- Get a modchip that supports SCPH 15000 , i.e. dms3.
2- Find a Action Replay v2.0 jap version with dongle + DMC + slide card
3- Swap Magic discs jap version + slide card

Yeah, and that'll be enough to use a backup UD, for dvd player set up, and whatever else it does. That I have, and can help you with.
I thought I'd metion something really wierd I've noticed that versions 2.0 of both Jap AR2, and remasters of GS2, ver 2.0 (2.2 doesnt do it) load up in PAL on, and only on the 10k.... it boots in ntsc on everything else, even my Jap v5, aint that a trip?
