I think it's so people can feel more like equals here.
with a post count it seems that the people who talked the most were regarded as being higher in the forum chain.
just what I think though, I'm not really sure
yeah, at first when i came there was no post count. then after a while a post count appeared. And now the post count is gone again.

There should be somehting to signify your commitment tho.
Not really. A guy could post like 30 in one day, and in 4 days, he'd get over 100 posts, and he's only been a member for 4 days. That doesn't show commitment. You for instance have only started posting for like a week ago, and you're already a senior member. But I've been a member since August and i'm not even a senior member yet. So post counts don't really show commitment. :(

Make some sort of formual. Postcount x Time x Where the posts where + the square root of your helpfullness. Something that signifies wheather your a guy who designs modchips, has great refs and pounts tons of info or wheather youve been here for 3 days and dont know dick.

The problem with that formula, is that it works out to four fifths of five eighths of phuck all!
I'm not a huge fan of post counts, either. While they can have good reasons for being here, I think that the other forum members can clarify whether a guy is just jerking our chains or not.
Leave 'em gone.

I don't like post counts either....but for the first time I'm upset that the img code is off for signatures....I found the funniest picture but it'd be to small to use as an avatar.

Arrrr, I am glad the post counts are gone, so I am! The little rascals only showed how many posts a fella had, not the quality of his work. I knows who is a helpful shipmate from who's a rotten scallywag just from readin the posts. Truly active membership shows for yer name appears all over the place. No post count needed for that! Arrrrr

What about a rating system where other members can vote on the quality of your posts to generate a star rating or some sort? I've seen it before. Might be hard to implement but it's an idea none-the-less.
