Is there a way to stop the free hd loader disc from spinning after the game is lauched without ejecting it?
Does the original hd loader do this as well? (I'm not getting mine till Friday).
The ps1 disc will stop spinning if free hd loader is executed from a memory card, but why not the hd loader disc? Thanks.

you can here the disc spinning.
when you press the eject button - the sound of the disc spinning will stop and it will take a bit longer to eject because it will first have to stop spinning.
Just get close to console and compare the sounds it makes before and after you press the eject button (with the free hd loader disc inside of course).

To Stop the disc, goto the Install Menu, when it asks you to Continue or Cancel, choose Cancel and it will stop the disc

My Free HDLoader version did this once. I had booted it from ps2menu (via exploit) so my ps1 game was still in the drive while i was playing the game. Then I noticed it was spinning and thought it was weird.

Since then, out of habit now, I just eject the disc while ps2menu is loading. That way hdloader has no disc to spin up. :)

The install menu trick works if you do it immediately after you get to the menu screen. Cause if you wait a while the disc will keep spinning either way (it's wierd).
Oh well, at least the original does not do this....thats nice to know.

yo i have dms3 with HDLoader on MC (Dev1)

question: if i boot HDLoader using DMS Explorer via MC (Dev1)... does FREE Loader need a disk inside the PS2 for it to boot properly and start playing a game?

i'm not going to install any games thru the PS2 DVD drive... i'll be using HDL_Dump

It needs a CD or DVD in the drive if you have a V9 or V10 PS2.
It doesn't for older PS2 versions.

well thats going to suck! the thing is that my PS2 laser is DEAD! it wont boot or read any CD/DVD original or backup! i guess there's no way around this? and there's no point of me installing HDLOADER LITE on the MC using my friends PS2!

i was hoping i could still use my crippled PS2 with DMS3... i could boot into DEV1 mode with HDLOADER then use HDL_Dump to INSTALL games on the HDD

but if it needs a CD/DVD to boot then there no point at all in even tryin it!

i've read on DMS forums that PS2s w/ versions up to V7 doesn't require a disk in the tray... how come?

Funny blisstik.. I have a V7 and I need the disk in the tray to boot.. How ever if your talkin about after you start a game.. Then no.. I do not need the disk in my V7 after I start a game from my HDD..
Just do what Da Brass said.. Once you get to the menu screen of HDloader just click on install, after that click on Cancel!.. Your boot cd will stop..
