I know some of you are going to be opposed to this line of questions since this might delve into DNA$ territory. I will keep this as generic as possible. I don't think that it will necessarily be against the TOS.

I've been reading a lot lately about Disc ID Utils and such. I am trying to figure out if it can be done with a DMS3. You can't turn a DMS3 off after it has booted and this is the problem that I am running into when I'm going over this in my mind. The chip will need to be on in order to boot cd-r (ID Util) but it will need to be off to read valid ID from orig if I understand this correctly.

I was thinking that it might be possible to run the ID util from PC with pukklink and inlink but then I remembered that I would need the chip to boot the pukklink cd-r and that shot that idea down. I've thought about this from every angle that I am aware of and I don't think that it is possible unless a DMS firmware is released that would allow you to disable the chip AFTER bootup.

I purposely didn't go into details about what exactly would be accomplished by doing this or the details of how to do it. Although I'm sure that the majority (if not all) of you can read between the lines. Thanks.

Thank you kryptic. I'll take your word for it. I was under the impression that with the chip on it would just spit out random ID numbers. I guess you've solved the problem that I thought up. Thanks.

If you mean that it has to be an original that I use the ID utility on, that was what I was thinking of.

no no i ment u pop in disc util its probably ganna be a CDR since there is no original for it. Then once it boots up u put in the Original disc of the game u want the ID for and it will display on screen. hope that clears it up.
