All you need is just a small screwdriver (eyeglass repair type) and you just need to stick it in the small slot on each side on the bottom of the tray. You just need to give it a small twist and the front will just pop off. I would suggest not taking the one side completely off until you do the other...then it just slides off easily.

He probably wants to use the Slide Card/Cog Swap to boot something.

well, i have a ps2 with dms3 in it, but it only reads cd's, and i also have a ps2, brand new with no mod, but running hdloader using the exploit version. i read about hdloader's swap trick method, and i thought i'd give it a try.

would you really want to go through swapping? i prefer direct boot and thats it.

i really just wanted to know, because i have alot of friends that have "normal" ps2's and i was doing it for reference, but after getting me cover off, it is much different than the v7 and v3 ps2's i have tried the swap on before. i don't know if its just me, but i think its way more difficult to swap with the v9/v10 because my home made swap card (credit card cut up) kept getting stuck, so i just stopped and said forget it.

yeah get a chip and checkout some people in the venders forum you can get a good price on an install of a mod and you get get a chip for as low as $20. and its no hassle.

Well...I've got a slide card and it works fine on the V9 I've tested it on. It only gets stuck "sometimes" when you push the tray back in, but you only need to lift the tray a little bit and it's fine

That screw was so hard for me to get off, my bro did it in 2 seconds. I was just worried about breakin the tray.

Anyway, Ive been using the Swap Disk bootin method for about year now seeing as I cant afford a modchip, works quite well.

Is it possible to put the front piece back on after you have taken it off?

Not true. I accidently broke one clip and I still put the front tray on, infact, its very easy to take on and off cos of it, and I always put it back on after booting PS2 games. And no one can tell if the PS2's front tray has been modified unless they physically pull the cd tray cover if you ever sell it.

yes you could do that but he wants it fix so just glue the two points back to it or buy a new tray they are that exspensive.

be warned though..if you don't want to break the two pieces to that cover that clap on top and bottom (left and right however you want to see it), then do it carefully and be gentle. I broke mine off. It really don't make much a difference either cause i can still slide it back on and off securely.

two words: "super glue".
