I immagine anything you have on a readable disk will work. It works on the same principles. As long as there's an ELF, and the patchable files, it should copy over and work fine.

All it does is rip the program on the hhd and let you play the game w/out the disc, right?

I installed MAME and a Spectrum emulator on HDLoader, and neither of them worked: pink screen of death in both cases. Tried a few of the compatibility modes, nothing worked. I've since uninstalled 'em.

I tried loading the ps2reality media player onto hdloader a couple weeks ago but it did not work. I even renamed the elf to a SLUS_4643.82 or something, and edited the system.cnf to point to it. (so it would look like an official game) HDLoader still gave the error that it was not a ps2 format game.

Guess we will have to play with it. anyone had any homebrew hdd sucessess?

They maybe did that so Sony can't say people are using HD loader for anything other than loading time

I think the error might be in the HDloader config file. it should point to all the games on the HDD. You could probably just slip in the location of wherever you put homebrew app on the HDD. Kinda like you can for Evox or Unleash X (Provided they didn't also auto detect)

yeah but what i was getting at, what that if I made a ps2reality cd, with music and movies on it etc, and burned to CD, then let HDLoader back it up to HDD.....then I could in essence watch my media from hdd instead of cd.

t0n,

sounds like a good idea, have you tried it? im goin to try to make an iso with PS2reality w/ 2 AVi's so that the iSO is over 1GB, i dunno if it'll work

somebody tried this yet?

so which HOMEBREW apps work by renaming the ELF file into SLUS_994.43 then editing the SYSTEN.CNF to point to it?

I have tried getting the mediaplayer into hdloader, however it always gives the error that the game in the drive is not a valid ps2 game. I renamed the ELF to a SLUS-type name and everything...

The only way it might be possible to get it on hdd/hdloader now would be to use the hd dump tools, and put the iso image onto hdd. Then maybe hdloader will see it and boot it.

I also asked the ps2reality team a while back right after hdloader came out if it would be possible to backup any mediaplayer disc and movies i put on it. They said they doubt it would work. (maybe the way the program calls to the cdvdrom)

I made a PS2Reality ISO and loaded it onto the HDD with Devine's utility. When I tried to play the video all I got was a blank screen.

but it booted to the main menu of the media player? you just got a blank screen when trying to play a video?

if what i said is true, i suggest placing MP3's inside the image, and using hdloader to load it...see if it will play the mp3's. if that doesnt work, try downgrading.
