Hey guys.. I'm in need of a little help =/
When i first booted the HDLoader with a Maxtor 80gb (D540X-4K) it asked if i wanted to format the HD and just hangs there. When i reset the ps2 to reload the HDLoader.. it would freeze at the splash screen/logo thing if a HD is inserted. If the HD is removed the HDLoader loads and says it doesn't detect any HD. I was able to format the HDD with the DMS hdd format tool and the HDD does spin. I've also tried a 10GB maxtor I had laying around. Same results. So, could it be that the HD or Network Adapter is not compaible with each other? or compatibel with the HDLoader? Anyways, if anyone could shed some lights on this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it^^ Thanks!

that usually means the hd in not compatable with hdl . unless you have the na without the modem plug then it may be that .

yea the NA im using has a modem and ethernet connection.. so i guess it's just the hd not being compatible then, thanks =P

Is the HD jumper configured to Master?

yes, it's on master, otherwise dms hdd format tool wouldn't see it either.
i suppose u have a dms3. u need to either eject the disc at logo or upgrade to 2.2 and turn on auto atad

for some strange reason, I have the same problem has you. the only way I did find to run HDLoader without problem is to load it with from the MC with the exploit. Anyway, I think the fake you_know_who release isn't fully cracked. I burned the CloneCD copy not cracked, it boots, I format, then do the MC exploit and BAM! everything is working like a charm, except I can't copy any backup (cdr and DVD)
By the way, I have a Apple V2 inside (cheap, but working)

Nice! I'm having the exact same problem here.
I'll try this when I get home. Thanks!

Hi all,
I have a Seagate 120GB ATA100 Hard Disk, listed in the compatibility list as "working". I have burned 2 CDRs with the ps*.o*nz.c*m found in emule (~8MB), and 1 CDR with another one of ps*.o*nz.c*m (~60MB). It always freezes at logo screen. As someone stated above, if I remove the HD, it passes the logo screen, but complains (obviously) that the HD is not present. I have Messiah 2 installed on a V7 console. Plizzz, can you tell me how to make it work? The problem of doing the MC exploit (AFAIK) is that it might be hard to swap the disks (no swap-cover, no swap magic, no "invisible" eject switch). But the biggest problem (shame on me) is that I convinced a friend to buy the same HD together with me, so now I feel guilty of making him waste his money. Any help please?
Best Regardzzzz
If you want to install Backups (DVD) you need Swap magic (DVD) or original High TOC PS2 Game (DVD)
1.RUN HD LOADER
2.Insert SM or High TOC Disc
3.Select Install
4.Swap Disc with Back up (W/O pressing eject)
5.Select Continue
6.your all done

@Jinn: you don't need Swap Magic. If you use a modchip, these are the steps:
1) Insert the Free HDLoader disk and press power button.
2) If you want to install a game, replace the HDLoader disk with the game disk (backup or original, doesn't matter).
3) Select a game available in the hard disk and launch it.
As you can see, if you are not installing anything (everything you need is already installed, which is the normal operation), there is no need to swap anything. You just leave the Free HDLoader inside the PS2 and when the menu appears, you select the game you like and launch it.

I'm having the same problems everyone here is having and I think it has something to do with the older version messiah 2's i have a 1.3 I think or 1.33 whatever it is. Free HD Loader freezes at the splash screen when loaded from cd-r but works fine if i load it from the memory card using the same NA and HD. and i cant install backup up games when loading from memory card because the ps2 is in psx mode i think.

Kasty: I tried a couple of Seagate 120GB drives I have here, and they work, but i am using the HDLOADER commerical package and not a hack. and so far no problems.

I have both the hack and the official disk (i don't think that either one should be a problem to use, because both work for me fine). When i first used the disk, it would freeze up at the menu sreen. As the website said, if it freezes it could be due to either the hdd or the modem not being compatible with hdloader. I luckily had two modems in my house, one of the first modems that came out and a newer one when i upgraded my ps2 (upgraded as in traded in and got myself a new one). The freezing never happened again. If you have a buddy that doesn't plan on getting hdloader, jus switch with him (thats if he has a newer modem).

I have ***3+ installed.
I installed the uncompressed hdloader (3mb) into MC, /BOOT/
Then I restartet, and pushed TRIANGLE.
HDLOADER startes up.. but the screen freezes and nothing more happens.
Idea ?

your hd is not compatible?
You use the old version of the NA (the one without BB)?
give more details (which HDD, what screen it freezes on...)

I used to have the messia chip installed.
Together with 120gb and hdloader - and it worked fine!
Now I have installed the ***3+, which (should, haven't got it working yet) allows me to start hdloader of the MC.
When I insert the CD with hdloader now... it freezes...(hmm...)
It loads the "Playstation 2" logo.. then it loads the blue HDLoader screen..
..and from there nothing happens. (frustrating...)
