well first off...i must say that im glad ps2newz.net is back and running...i was getting scared there for a minute.

with all the news that was flashing around about the cracked hdloader being released right around the same time ps2newz.net went down I have some questions about it.

I used the memory card exploit for the hdloader and it works perfect and I even figured out how to copy memory card saves to the hdd using mr. brown's exploit. So everything is pretty cool since All i need to do is throw wipeout 3 in for ps1 and it goes right to the exploit. But I wanted to know if there is a way to do more stuff with the exploit or the hdloader. Here are my questions for anyone that knows.

1. Is there a way to install a swap magic exploit along with the hdloader exploit if so how?

2. Is there a way to either install pgen, imbnes, or snes station to the hdd or create an exploit for it to run?

3. What would happen if i installed gameshark ver 1.9, swap magic dvd or cd with hdloader, i wonder if it work?

4. What exactly is the point of using a ps2link cable to access the pc via ps2 hdd? The only thing I can think of is getting memory card saves from other ppl and throwing it on. Its not like you can throw iso files from pc to ps2, or even edit the musc in ffxi online for ps2 cause it so annoying.

5. Will there ever ever be a hdloader anything that will copy dvd 9's to hd along with that get around dnas?

I read about installing more then one exploit at once by putting elf's files in or something but im still a little confused...if anyone is able to answers these questions for me, then I think that is probably all I'll need to know for a while about this ps2 scene stuff goin on. Thx.

yes i am glad this site is back as well :)

Answer to 1 & 2: I suggest configuring the independence exploit to load up PS2MENU. From there you can put any files on your MC or HDD, transfer from the two and CD and network, plus rename along with lots of other stuff. PGen is the only emulator that can load roms from hdd, so you can put snes station's application on there, however it will look for roms on your dvdrom drive. Also, imbnes is a PS1 game, so it will not execute.

3: You can install those things, BUT after you run them, hdloader will still be in control (after you are ready to swap or load codes) so it will still not access your dvdrom drive, it will instead probably freeze.

4: If you connect your PC and PS2 you can do many things like download MC saves, download homebrew applications, stream media files for the ps2reality media player, and quite a few other things.

5: I am really hoping for a program like hdloader that will work on dvd9's, however I am not sure if many coders will actually touch the original program, and chances are the creator will not be selling or making more. As for DNA's I am not sure of the technical methods used to verify as well as get around it, but I was stunned to hear about games on HDD, so I guess *almost* anything is possible.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. :)

Thanks for the reply :)

I have another question though. How would I go about installing pgen on the memory card exploit or hdloader? I have Pgen on a disc already. And is there anykind of tutorial on how to use ps2menu other then the readme that comes with the download its a little hard to understand once booted.

If i'm not mistaken, if you boot pgen, and it sees your hdd, it will automatically partition it and *maybe* save its program files to hdd.

But anyway, in ps2menu, push R1 and select ps2fs. then using L1, select which partition you want pgen on. Once you get it, move the selection in the main table to highlight the '..' part. (without '' marks)

After its highlighted, press triangle. Now press R1 and select cdfs and go into your pgen CD and find the pgen.elf file and once its highlighted, press triangle and it will be moved to hdd.

Now you can run it from hdd, and once you open it for the first time, it will create a partition for you. You can transfer your roms to that partition, or the partition pgen is stored on. If you have a folder full of roms on your cd, follow the exact steps above, except instead of highlighting the pgen.elf file, highlight the folder, press start, and select Advanced copy. Now the entire folder will be copied to hdd.

hope that helps. :)

so pgen doesnt see your hdd? It should have an hdd option, then you choose the partition...

yes that not the problem i can install the games on my hdd but when im running pgen application where do i browse for files on my hdd theres no option for it ...just cdrom and memorycards for the games its asking to load... someone told me i need to make a partition with dms format tool then load the games on that way on to the hdd then pgen will list the roms under roms list.

use dms3`s hdd format tool to create a partition on the hdd called roms then copy
your roms to the partition and when you run pgen it should see the roms directory!
hope this helps!!! ????

i guess this methold would work? i'll try it later ....

it should...but if your not seeing any partitions at all then it might be a bigger problem..
