Question: What does the network adaptor look at when I log on? Does it copy and send my Sony Serial Number in? Could I play a friends PS2 on my network adaptor at my house? What if I get a NEW PS2 and hook it up? My "Friend" may be able to get me a new PS2 "really cheap" (don't ask), but I don;t want Sony calling asking where I got this console! LOL (My laser went dead and I'll probably just get a new console instead of a laser)

Thanks,
Slim

the network adapter has a unique MAC address. The ps2 also has a unique serial stored in an eeprom chip. when you configure your network settings, data is saved to your memcard that is specific for the ps2 the network adapter was currently installed on.you can safely move a network adapter between different ps2s and not have a problem so long as each has its own memcard and you configure the network settings seprately on each. i have 1 network adapter changed between a few ps2s and it works fine.
any server or network your ps2 is connected to can see your MAC address. Sony DNAS servers can read/(write?) your ps2 eeprom information. if you are really worried about sending out such information, dont go online.
