View Full Version : Sony cant ban disc IDs
If you rent a game from a video rental place then get the ID from that dics then talk it back, you have it. SO if so call 50 people had the same ID and alot of them are on at the same time, Sony would ban the console or the game.... wrong, becase the next time sombody rented that game there console would be ban or the disc would be already baned. they could not go online. they woundnt do this becase they would have to pay the movie rental places alot of money to have peoples consoles replaced and people would be sueing Sony becase they rented a game and baned the console or the game would not go online so Sony would have to buy the rental places new games.
So Sony cant Ban IDs or they will pay more in the future.
See this look more like what people should be saying.
Also if im wrong point it out.
They cant Ban the IDs on the internet becase they may be rented to....

Ah damn it I just typed out a really nasty responce but then noticed that you were willing to be proven wrong. You took the wind out of my sails. Ok here is how this works. Each ps2 has a unquie ID within the i/o processor. Now Sony got ahold of all the disc ID's posted. When a server sees one of those ID's it polls the bios of the PS2. If it sees a patched bios (ie system booted a backup with Swap Magic, cdloader, or any Chip) it then bans this unique ID within the console itself from ALL SONY SERVERS! So in this way the rental still works fine but the guy who tried to pull a fast one it screwed forever even if he buys a legit game.
So your saying that Sony can tell that its been patched or not. But Is there that great of a difference in a patched game and a Original game.

You're not getting this are you? The game looks the same yes. But they find the patched BIOS and then BAN THE CONSOLE ID.
Got it but then also if you rented a game and got the ID it would be harder for sony to find the patched bios in the console
becase they couldnt find the fack game inless two were on at the same time

lol WTF swap magic dose not change the ps2 bois only mod chips dose that
and ur right about renting games theres no way sony will know its a copy unless u use a mod chip to boot it and the odds of 50 people useing that id from your video store is very rare so just rent the game use swap style and play online its that simple :D
accualy the swap disc does change the bios in the ps2 till you reset it

lol so ur trying to tell me the swap dics changeings a game bios cause i heard from alot of other people and sites that says it dose'nt change the games bios unless u mod it with a mod chip all swap disk dose is get u past the disk check in each game and from there u put the game in the system w/o it knowing it was opened.
Belive what you want all they did is want you to buy the swap disc from there so they would make a little bit more money but ok belive what you want.
also if it does work with swap disc. Everyone with a mod chip will have to trun off the chip with an external switch so the bio arnt patched anymore after boot... Inless DMS3 came up with a way to shut the chip off after boot ;) :)
