When in the hell is the HDD media thing coming out!?!?!?!?

ok im pissed i am new to this forum but im not new cracking and hacking. ok i bought this HDD and i was excited cause it said that it will have a media player and i will be able to rip cd's or get MP3's in there so far NOTHING. I thought i was going to be able to do like the XBox and play my own music while playing my games. So my question is WHEN IS THAT STUPID SOFTWARE COMING OUT??

that'll mean they need another BIOS update... if they rush it out, maybe they'll leave some... helpful.... things in.

A BIOS update would mean either they have some very clever HDD I/O system, capable of executing apps already, or they need to send everyone that bought the drive a new disc.

im pretty sure the capability is there already but all they need to do is make up software that will work with it. IM thinking that there will be no BIOS update just the software. Remember they are trying to make gaming consoles like PCs. When the MP3 thing it PCS several years ago it was easy to get MP3. Believe the people at Sony are not that dumb. Its going to take awhile or they are going to wait til Xmas or summer to bring it out. NO MAtter what its still too long of a wait. All MS has to do is keep bringing the price on Xbox. Sony made it pretty easy for MS to keep competing with them. Just lower the price and maybe bring a bigger HDD for Xbox. NO THINKING DONE THERE!! I just want to play Madden 05 with my own music!!

So what's the big deal about listening to mp3s while you play a game? I hardly think that's one of XBox's best features. I've been playing games listening to my own music since I had nintendo and a walkman. I don't see why it's so much better when both features come from the same device. Chances are you have something that'll play music within earshot of the PS2 anyway. The only thing that makes the XBox hard drive great is that you store all your pirated games on it and don't have to burn a bunch of dvds. That's all anyone really wants.

yeah but com'on man i have a nice surround sound set up for gaming and movies and music. Its the flow of things. Like Fat Mike said imagine if you had your own GTA station. That would be awesome. Or playing FIGHT NIGHT with your own entrance music you choose. NO limitations on music. Or playing LINKIN PARK while playing Resident Evil. Some people like me that spent that money and have been waiting for this HDD for awhile are losing patience here. Xbox is cool but MS is the DEVIL. Im not letting MS in my home anymore only on my PC and thats it...even if that i have about 4 firewalls at home to keep them away from my PC. I want to go with the lesser of 2 evils.

the moral of the story is.... use a pc isnsead of ps2. then you can do whatever you want :) :p

[edit: more ontopic, you can put ps2reality media player on the hard drive, provided you have a modchip. you still can't play movies from the hard drive yet, but that is coming soon]

Um if you haven't caught on, the US HDD is the same as the japanese one even in the software evolution. IE whent he HDD started off in japan it only had the browser and save features. Shortly there after navigator BB .10 was released and the evolution continued to BB navi .31.

The XBOX Blows the PS2 away!!!! Whew------ The XBOX with XBMP is a full funtion Media center. Play not only MP3 but MPG,WMA,VOB files Streaming media from servers and many more media types. You can also run linux & upgrade the memory and much more. Believe me the PS2 is my livley hood. But hands down the XBOX rocks!!!

my patience wears weary!!!!! Errrrr Payday is on the 10th thinking about getting an Xbox. If i get a mod chip then i risk ruinning my PS2 i dont mind paying for games i only get games i like.

the only problem is, we're talking about ps2, not xbox!

and why is this so great what you say? we are talking about consoles, not computers are we not?

any n00b can install a "media player" onto a computer, just the same as any n00b can install linux on a computer

don't get me wrong, alot of geniuses worked on cracking many, many ways microsoft attempted to lock users out from executing unlicenced code on their "XBOX", but essentially is is just a computer.

the feat is the experts who allowed linux to install, not the fact that linux *can* install.

the xbox doesn't "ROCK" at all.. infact it's quite boring.
