Where would you buy the FBGA 144 adapters and how much would they cost?

So how much money does the entire manufacturing process cost from start to finish (assuming they manufacture several thousand chips)?

In small quantities, probably as much as buying a readymade modchip :(

Ripping the messiah 2 is not the old crow way, it of use only for dealers. Ripping the magic3 is much better, easy to get chips.

Just my opinion.

Rex, cheers for code & thanks for everything (if indeed your time here is nearly done!). Maybe worth a post stating where you see the whole mod scene going (apart from down the plughole!)!?...

Perhaps a little post-script as I've kept out of most of this (not being competent to contribute at the intellectual level).

The G-man bears responsibility (or should I say irresponsibility) for the market chaos he caused by announcing that Messiah 2 (aka US Messiah) would be released on 17-May, then June, then July.

On the basis of his word, pre-orders were taken (yes that is someone else's decision, but he knows full well how the market works - why would he provide a date?) and indeed his trusting distributors genuinely believed that the thing would arrive at least by July.

So thousands of dollars of refunds had to be made and the banks made pots of money on the reverse transactions not to mention bank fees paid by people placing orders in good faith and traders paying transfer charges on the refunds.

People should be aware of who has messed with them.

Of course that has to be set off against the quality of the Messiah 1 project which was a credit to the team despite all the bitching we've been reading.

I'm delighted at least that Messiah 2 comes out of the hDL stable, maintaining the design care that was evident with Messiah 1.
