Plain and simple....been outta school for a while...Transferred after 2 years to a new college(kent state)....living in dorms now. Good highspeed internet but only accessable w/ a MAC address. So that means that i cant play games online because i cant register a MAC address for my network adaptor because i dont know it. Is there any way that i can find it. All ethernet products have MACs so i dont see why ps2's wouldn't.

Thanks.

Btw, this is my first time to the forums. I am highly interested in modding my ps2. I was a *stand in line and wait for my ps2 at launch guy* and have been a huge fan of taking complete control of it since then. I've seen xbox capabilities and i was sick to my stomach that a POS made by microsoft could do more than my ps2. After a long time of looking, i found so much info on hackin ps2's. You guys got a great site.

the ps2 network adapter does have a mac address. i believe it is listed at the end of the network setup process when you use the setup disc.

If the network Adaptor fails to go online once configured with the network Adaptor utility disk, at the error message screen you can typically press the "select" button. This will display the Adaptor's current network settings. Among these, the MAC address will also be listed. You can force this "failure" condition by simply unplugging the network cable from the Adaptor when you perform the connection test.

If you have the cash, i'd splurge for a cheap NAT router like a dlink or linksys, then just give them the mac for your router. Then you can keep you computer and ps2 on the net at all times.

you have to be careful about hooking up a router to the school network. most schools have rules against it. safest bet would be to set up ICS on your pc and use a crossover cable.

at kent state we can do that. I have a wifi router but its just a transmitter, doesnt have lan ports on it. I used the MAC for that and my internet works fine. But i will check out the error and see if it lists it. I didnt even think of that. Thanks for the tip.
