View Full Version : PS2 GameShark2 & Codebreaker Decryptions???

Okay, I'd like to be able to really DO something with the GameShark2 and Codebreaker I bought for my PS2 waaay back when both of these came out. I'm sick of being given pre-chewed bits of information from Interact and Pelican along the lines of . "Here's a k-rad code that will give you one million dollars", or "after much hard work, WE present YOU with an infinite phlegm code", or other trivial bullshit.
I want to be able to construct my OWN codes. (I got so used to seeing asm patches built using the PSX Caetla/Gameshark 2.x that this piecemeal shit pisses me off) Diving through PS2 exe's with the current crop of disassemblers, I've seen all sorts of cool stuff I'd like to try but the perversion of the code schemes on the US PS2 GameShark2 and Codebreaker prevents any real experimentation.
If anybody has information on the command+address (the value field is pretty well hacked :-) fields of these two potentially FUN devices, please let me/us know!
Thanks!

cool.
Yeah, I know we can't do realtime code-searches on stock PS2's (yet), so at the least I'd like to be able to modify specific memory locations based on disassembly of the main executable--unfortunately, the Japanese ActionReplay hacking documentation didn't seem to match up when I tried making a few codes to whack some text in US 'SSX Tricky'...
Hi....
me too I would like to create my own codes !!!!
I allways made it with my PSX and an " Exploder"....realtime code-searching !!
For some games it was more fun to find some codes than to play them !
I was allways creating some crazy codes .
Codes wich you can't find for PS2 .
Is it not possible over usb ?????
Or whats about the little conectionpiont just next to the PS2
USB port's ???????????????????

Molo - Were they great days weren't they :) By the way you won't get no codes for the PS2 xploder any time soon as there is only one hacker working at the moment, thus the reason for the lack of codes recently. Like many have said, a modified PS2 and hacking tools are needed.
I am actually starting to doubt whether they will be such an opportunity for the public to hack their own codes as in my opinion, as of what has happened recently, the xploder products are going to start to up and fiwind nish. Blaze have said they would release tools for hacking (and before anyone doubts me this was straight for the horses mouth - Wayne Beckett) but they arn't because it wouldn't be very cost effective for them as its very expensive to supply the tools and if they sold they would be losing not making money because of the cost of the tools.
Action Replay I feel arnt going to release any because after these many many years with good contacts and info I feel myself, in my opinion, action replay wouldn't release the tools, not the fact that its expensive but because they are scared of losing profits and people of finding a way of hacking without using the AR.
Any hows I reckon the only way of the public getting to hack is if a employee from one of the businesses betrays their company and gives out the tools to someone else alternatively a very long wait until some very smart person cracks.
Arg I've been rambling on again, I'll shut up now
Later :p

I remember that the little one is a firewire port - I don't know exactly what it is supposed to do there.

I do not think neither Blaze or Datel will release the PS2 code finding tools, they will keep hacking of PS2 stuff in house. The tools would be too expensive to sell, they tend to use machines that have been specially modifed.

That iLink (Firewire) is used for networking.... several Armoured Core games use it for 2 system linking... GT3 used it for 6 player games... or center left and right views for one player... Timeplitters 1,2,3 use it... ATV Off Road Fury use it.... and some others
