With burned or downloaded games can you still play online?
yes and no...
if it has DNAS you can't play online with a "normal" ps2.
if it doesn't have DNAS then you can play online with a "normal" ps2.

Well I got a magic 3 and you can play online if your turn off ya chip (put it into stealth mode) but you cant play copied games only original online.
I heard of the Flip Top\Magic card thing that works for it doesn'T modified your ps2, so the dnsa wont detect it. But I heard alot of bad stuff when it comes to the fliptop. Like it messing up your ps2 after only 1 month. :wow:

Well some games have DNAS some don't you can check the sticky above and it will show you which games have DNAS and which won't. Some games might have DNAS but probably are not completely protected such as SOCOM: U.S. NAVY SEALs - PAL. I can play with a backup with no problem and it has DNAS, but it's only that game.

My buddy has a fliptop. He has not had any problems whatsoever. How could it mess up your PS2 after a month? It doesn't make any sense. It's just a replacement cover for the top.

There is a tunneling progam that is used for playing back up xbox games online that states that they will soon support playing back up ps2 games. check the link http://www.xboxlink.co.uk/

Yeah that's right, I use that program too on my Xbox.. Works like a charm. They added support for tunneling of the Gamecube and now in their next version (expected somewhere in May, by the name of KAI007) will support tunneling for PS2 backups. But it's still in betatesting... If you want to sign up... visit their forum at www.xbox-scene.com --> forum --> Xlink forum (or just through the link on their official site :))..

I am right now, I am playing NASCAR Thunder 2004, and SOCOM II, and 007:Everything or Nothing. Look over at ps2nfo.com's forums for more info.

If anyone in these forums ever gets banned from Sony servers, I think the rest of us would appreciate hearing about it so we'd know it was really happening. Supposedly, the console will just hang after DNAS check and do nothing... no messages, just freeze.
I currently only play legitimate copies online, but I did once log on with a patched backup of my own Socom 2 original as a test. It worked, but i'm back to using my original.
