1: The PS2 network adapter have both broadband AND dial-up.
2: I dont know it says it work with a usb one and I can not try it because I use broadband, and if it work, i will not use it because I am accustom to high speed.
PS I think most of the ps2 online player use broadband.

i practically solved the browser problem and got it working great. even had specifications and extra info to optimize it. i got it all from contacting the makers of it. i typed up alot of info, then it all got erased. what do you get from this dumbass move? nothing. i now keep the elite info to myself. guess what? im surfing on my ps2 right now. :p
bc i had a link to download the english modified version of EGBrowser, my entire post got deleted. it was a childish, uncalled for, and irresponsible move.
most everyone here are lamers. jumping from bandwagon to bandwagon. as soon as a developer is out of the spotlight, you hate them. an example from recent times: PS2Reality - they provide a great prog and you hate them even though most of you probably use it on ur TV to jack off on your gay porn.
they can go ahead and kick my ass to the curb. it was a dumbass move and whoever the fuck did it needs to own up and bitchslap herself. so what ban me. they would only be proving their corruption and lack of modding skills. ip ban me? who cares, its called a proxy server. :D
lack modding skills lol you wish it wasnt me who deleted it but i still dont like your whining :)

i dont think so........
i never heard of it if it was real!
Well in Europe we have a beta test of Central Station. Its basically a limited web browser via PS2 for the online stuff which only just comes out this month. When you set if up if you tell it to use e.g google IP address in the setup you can get outside the limits of Central station. I've tried to find in the files where it makes reference to CS website to change it properly or CS IP address but no luck yet. Its only the beta of CS software and its buggy as hell. However in the next week or so Sony will be sending the final versions. If i make any progress I'll let you know or anyone have any ideas where to find the CS internal reference to the website ? I found one but its the text shown on screen only not where it looks.
I must have been an idiot not to have figured it out before. Anyway its working now, it goes to google as my homepage :) The browsers not bad, plays mp3s, supports USB keyboard and working fine from my Sony Network adapter.
Well more testing it can't do quicktime, real media, mpegs or shockwave as far as I can tell. For anything it doesn't understand it shows a message saying 'central station cannot be contacted' Java doesn't seem to work either so its fairly basic plain web browser ....gifs and jpeg all work ok.
You can browse most plain website including foreign characters like Japanese ok. It takes a little while to do the navigating with the pad but that works ok.
mp3 load and play pretty quick.
I set google.com as my home page as from that I find you can get almost anywhere.
PS2newz and forums work fine :)
Ahh and setting the options to widescreen help, fits the page much better now.

Nice... :)
Well the new 'final' version is beyond me. It falls on DNAS and ive not idea how avoid that. However I did merge the old CS build with the new CS browser but that didn't work. Even with the changes I made to tries to go back to eu.playstation.tv and fails of course. So I've given up on all of that, the old beta will have to do...its a bit naff but it works. I've been ill today so thats all i can do for now...I'll look at it again sunday.

NX3 check pm plz :)
Problems problems problems :(
I packaged it all up and ready to go this morning, day off yesterday as I was sick. Anyway it wasn't working...tried the original beta and new final version. Neither of which are working.
I've wipe my memcards of any settings and just trying. Socom beta and final both are working. So I check the beta forums out and seems like Central station is down today. Hopefully it will be back up tomorrow when the Sony techies get into work and fix it. What I'm guessing from this is even though the modified version is going to google, in the background its doing something to the CS website. Obiously that needs to be changed but I'm not sure where or how. However even without doing that its no good unless the CS website is up as I cant even get to google.
Roll on tomorrow.....and hope CS is back.
PS While it was working I did some more testing. I setup a web server on my PC and browsed to that. Just to test file formats etc.... Anyway the results were :
Picture files e.g BMP, JPG etc = Yes
Mp3s = Yes (low bit rate to VBR all fine)
Quicktime Movies = No
AVI files = No
Divx (Xvid) = No
Mpeg (mpg) = No
Shockwave = Depends what version they were made with, some work, some don't. Or it might even be the size of the file...I've not tested it that much.

I uploaded the browsers stats ages ago :)
Thanks... but I've never seen your page before.
So likely PS2 features are :
HTML 4.0, CSS
JavaScript 1.5 and Macromedia Flash 4.0
Frames, I-Frames and full frame history
SSl 2.0 & 3.0 with Smartcard transaction authenication
Graphic formats - JPEG, GIF, PNG / Audio Formats - WAV, AU, MP3
Quality TV vector fonts
Free roaming pointer or fixed cursor navigation via keyboard or mouse
I've cut the stuff clearly the PS2 version doesnt do like Picture in picture.

Odd, some kid 'leaked' it to the main UK playstation.com forums, I'm suprised you missed it :)
Oh I saw that when it first appeared and hence got the idea you could hardcode CS to look elsewhere. I just didn't follow the thread to see your site mentions. In fact I hardly check the forums as its mostly the same old stuff over and over...
1, User X is cheating in SOCOM
2, The Germans / French are cheating in SOCOM
3, Can you cheat in SOCOM ?
4, I can't connect online
5, How do I configure XP, my router, my ICS
6, Twisted Metal Black sux (which it does)
7, I saw people shooting out of walls in SOCOM and they were German / French
8, WHERE ARE MY FREE GAMES SONY !!
9, O.A.P sux.....S.A.S sux... My clan rulez
10, Will you join my l33t clan ?
Etc... Oh and the favorite, my dog ate my socom headset, where can I get a replacement ??

PS USB mouse works fine with CS.

It does? Why thank you for that info, I'd not even thought to try it :)
Yup...I used a M$ Optical mouse (USB). Plug it in before turning on the PS2 and works. I've used the same mouse in a few games as well which I can't remember right now but Silent Scope 1 & 2 were two that worked for sure. It makes Silent Scope so easy :D
I've got a Compaq (black) USB keyboard as well, that works fine on CS as well.

how did you go about setting a homepage? and plz check your p, NX3 :-)
I've used a CGI IRC client from a remote PC once. That should work with the browser.
I set the homepage by hardcoding it into one of the files on the disc. Its easy to find ;-)
"a box in were you can type in the addy you want and it will go there (a a ddy bar) as soon as all this is up we can make it the standard on all of them to have my site as the homepage it will rule. "
You can easily set a Goto URL input box on a webpage and then browse to it. That could be part of a iframe for a top header. However you couldn't make sure the top frame stayed as any page than opens to the entire screen would knock it off.
Its already out and released...
PS the versio on emule is PAL but includes a NTSC patch and it works fine as NTSC.

just in case anyone wants to know. the TV Interactor only supports Ethernet (Network Adapter) as far as I can tell. It also can support USB mouse and USB keyboard AND......
and.....
and.....
A HARD DRIVE - or at least it has the files for it. I opened them up and it says Sony Computer Entertainment - so my guess is that it is for use with a sony ps2 hdd (not yet released.) maybe someone with this should try on a regular harddrive to see if it works. I have no network adapter so i cant try
if anyone wants the HDD.irx file, check out my post in the topic PS2 HDD Support. (attachment)
The HDD would make sense as Central station talks about playing online demos of games when you register. Which I'd guess due to the limited memory of the PS2 would have to be downloaded.

yes but i know where and what the files are needed for this kind of support. given to the right people, they could use it as a template and design their own HDD driver to therefore allow support to projects such as PS2Reality. (saving divx movies and mp3's onto harddrive would be great). btw, i already notified the ps2reality team about my find. hopefully it will produce greatness.

I've been on the eMule queue for Ps2_Browser(pal).rar for ages now. Can someone PM me a link of where I can download it? I'd reall appreciate it. Thanks!
-CJLevinsk22
CJLevinsk22 - its spread well on emule, make sure you have a high id (you dont have a firewall blocking ports 4662)
Ton23 - This is based on the beta remember the final version is probable better but its got DNAS. Most the files are the same between beta and final but the Oregan.elf is over 3mb now so i guess the browser has changed a bit.
There seem to be several internal references to the 'cdrom0'. It would be good if we could set the homepage as e.g a file on the cdrom. I've not had any luck yet though with trying this. Though I've got it to complain file://127.0.0.1/TEST.HTM is not available :)
When I made reference to the cdrom0 it just said it found nothing.

actually, I am completely UNMODDED and have a FLIPTOP cover. The TV Interactor boots fine on mine. :) I have a version 4 PS2 and I use Gameshark2 v2 to swap. CJLevinsk22, try to burn in CDR-Win. That's what I used.
The EGBrowser however does not boot on mine but does seem to boot on consoles with chips.
Well your not missing much with EGBrowser. It boots up but does nothing else for me.
PS for anyone wasting time getting the EGBrower you need a special USB modem (as sold in jap) to make it work. So other than using it to play mp3 files I don't really know a use for it.

Sounds like the TV Interactor (or CS Browser, whatever you wanna call it) doesn't like to boot with swap magic discs. I tried it last night with Swap Magic and it didn't work. I also tried it with an AR2 V1.7 and it stopped at the same screen. Unforunately my AR2 V2.20 disc is cracked so I can't use it. At first I thought it may have been because I don't have my network adaptor set up yet (the settings saved to the memcard) because I haven't been able to boot the network adaptor startup disc since i have a PAL PS2, and Swap Magic and AR2 don't like to swap to it. Does the TV Interactor let you set up your network settings from scratch?

"Does the TV Interactor let you set up your network settings from scratch?"
Yes, as per the documentation (readme.txt)
TheTieger...he just talking about the samething !
While I was just using Central Station final online to see if its any different. The same setup but you can configure an external device (not a USB device) , external IP address. So I set it as google as its a good starting point.
I've done a few test and as a browser its 95% the same. However it renders all colour correctly now. Also it handles shockwave stuff better as the xiaoxiao movies work and Spank The Monkey almost works !

Please post a direct link as emule/donkey are pretty crap. a nice ftp or http link would save lots of messing about !

5 days and not got anything ?! Then you must have port 4662 blocked I'd guess.
While some of you might not like emule its shared bandwidth and means the file is always available. Unlike a webpage which can by expensive to host for all the leeching something like this get hit for.
ton23
06-14-2003, 07:31 PM
how to fix if your Emule file is just sitting:
cancel it, then search on global Emule server for PS2_Browser. A couple things may come up. You want the file called PS2_Browser(pal).rar
smutty1971
06-15-2003, 03:24 AM
I have done all of that still sitting. It says I am 'on queue' its currently shared out by 12 people but still no download. Couldn't someone just up a file some where or share it on Kazaa as that is so much easier to share/download from ?
Cheers
Do you have a firewall ?
are you behind a NAT router ?
do you have a low ID on emule ?
what server are you on ?
Also do as Ton23 suggests. Its on power share so 5 days waiting means you've got something wrong.
"Shareaza is a powerful file sharing program that connects you to 4 popular P2P systems: G2, eDonkey2000, BitTorrent and Gnutella1"
Maybe you'll find that easier to use.

your welcome. i suggest using www.spaceports.com. they offer enough space and 1GB of transfer a month all for free. direct links are also accepted.

My version only has setting for dial-up..

nobody seems to be able to find the EGBrowserBB files. BB stand for BroadBand and it also has support for the network adapter. the only chance you have of getting it is ordering it from a store in japan.

nyway, I have tried to read the tread but it seems really confusing. :(
I know some people were able to play via a tweak of a program of $ony.Since here in America we dont have this sofware, did someone release a NTSC version???
And is this the only way to acess the net via the PS2.
Thanks for the reply it would really clear some things up

I almsot forgot, thank you for making my tread onr of the most popular in the PS2 Homebrew/Dev & Emu Scene :)
Yes in includes a NTSC patch, tested working 100% for many people.
Yes its the only way to access the net using the standard network adapter and not some strange Jap USB modem on import.

ok it says on shareaza that 9 sources are available but no one has it for download
Your problem is you have a Low ID, which is like driving with the hand brake on ! If you had a High ID it would be much quicker....though I can see you are getting it slowly but you left before it was complete. Also I found 16 sources when searching with a HighID.
You need to open ports 4662, 4663 on your firewall / router. You would then get a High ID, you've not got things configured correctly basically.
