Do i have a batch of faulty DMS3 v9? why are you flashing a v9 dms with 1.8 when it already has that firmware

@loy

is there any way to check if the dms3 v9 is a beta chip ? i got mine at the beginning of last week and it will be built in tomorrow. what can people do when they were sold a beta?????

I got 10pcs beta chips 3 weeks before release date, with flash 1.8 beta 7, later I recieved beta 9 and 10 directly from DMS-Tech...!
Beta 7 didn't have Regionfree dvd, the laser "ticked" 3 times before loading DVDR discs, and many problems on dvdrip games.
Beta 9 had regionfree but not for RCE protected movies.
Beta 10 works like the released flash version (still have problems on some Region1 movies)

hi, ive tried the flash erase trick pressing four shoulder buttons.
i did not solve prob. but si seems when i try the consoles only have trouble when gamepad is in slot 1 and no X pressed.
if i have in 2 nd gameslot and if i press x it boots up.
if anyone just could tell if this is flash1.8bugs or is it chips or my intall?

ive tried to erase flash on all three brand new 50004 consoles with DMS3v9 and i am now more certain than ever that it is chip/flash related issue? If i press the four buttons for erase flash it only works with controller in slot one this also tells me why the console boots flawlessly dvd-r everytime the controller is out of padslot or in slot two (slot one seems to be default slot?)
Is there really no one with DMSv9 that can check if this goes for their consoles aswell to give the TECHguys a clue?????

hi tjuddi,
i too am experiencing the same problem with 2 50002 ps2's (one black and one silver). With 'Manhunt' DVD orginal and other dvd backup games (Soul Calibur 2 and Ico and some others) i have noticed the following:

1. with controller in slot 1 it will not boot from reset or standby
2. removing the controller from slot 1 or holding X while in slot 1 the game will boot from reset
3. Both ps2's have MX 110 bios

I have flashed with the 1.8 flash download available from DMS3's website and tried that - no change. In fact if i use the flash from DMS3 website i notice that if i switch between ps1 backup and a dvd (orginal or backup) by pressing reset the ps2 locks up b4 it even starts (black screen). On the default flash this does not occur.

The problem with my dvd games (both original and backup) is that they will not boot past the ps2 logo without me having to press X or fastboot when the ps2 starts up (with both default flash and CD flash there is no diff'nce). There is no problem with any cd backups or cd orginals.

I have tried the following -
1. twisted pair on D, E, clk, M - no change
2. 2 diff'nt mounting positions - no change
3. X2 power (22 awg) and X10 ground wires (kynar) 0.5 cm each - no change
4. X2 power (22awg) and X3 ground (22 awg) 1 cm each for ground - no change
5. All fuses (including ps7 on both consoles) have been tested working
6. also I have attempted mars 2 power point, magic v power point and using legs of the Cd/DVD dsp instead of vias - no change

My bios wires are currently all less that 7cm and all seperate - D an E are both twisted pair. This position of the chip is now currently EXACTLY the same as subten's in this post:: http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=113721#post113721. (i will try to get a pic soon) my ground is soldered directly to the ground on the cap. as per subten's post and dont get any shorter - the other mounting position i have tried is the same as WMCEO's in this post here:: http://www.dms3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1979&highlight=. I cannot get rid of the problem ie dvd (orig. and backup) do not work past the ps2 logo without either removing the controller from port 1 or pressing X when booting up. I have noticed there is also two other threads at the DMS3 forums on this both here (http://www.dms3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2096&highlight=50004) and here (http://www.dms3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2129&highlight=dvd) (the first i think is yours). I am hoping this may well be an installer issue - does any1 have a solution???? (All other functions of the chip work including the HDD explorer etc.)

hi, are you an installer? Have you modded anyone working?
Have you tried a new controller (orginal) with no turbo/rapid fire etc.
ive contacted The DMS team i feel there is somthing wrong with chip/flash/install here so i want to find out whats wrong as i sell premod machines to people they has to work perfectly!
Problem is that i have installed over 100pc dmsv1 and 2 mainly with no probs!
ive tried everything with twisted pair, i use thicker multistrand silvercoated powercables, tried alternative powerpoint, adjusted lasers ++++
I Cannot understand that i am the only one in this world who gets this result???????

hi again,
i install just as a hobby not as my main source of income (over 300 mods so far ranging from neo 4 through to DMS3; done all from v1-v9; some pal some ntsc). I have only got two v9 DMS3 with me and am having the same problem with both (they were ordered as soon as the DMS3 was released). The controllers i am using are the ones that came with the ps2's - i notice that on both controllers the second pin is missing from the left hand side - they both function perfectly though and the majority of controllers i have seen have this pin missing. I have done quite a few dms3's (even on the tricky V3, V4's) and have never experienced this problem.

just wondering if you were referring to subten's (http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=113721#post113721.) mounting position (ie the first one) or WMCEO's (http://www.dms3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1979&highlight=.) (ie the second). I might have another go at reinstalling as per WMCEO's is this the one most ppl seem to use (arghhhhhh.... reinstalling is soooo annoying)

1 chip was purchased from foundmy.com and shipped on the 21st of nov. (from the first batch i believe).
The other chip was bought from mod-chip.com and shipped on the 23rd of Nov. (i think also from the first batch).

the bios markings on the silver ps2 are:
MX
S032533
MX23L6400YC-10G
(C) 2003 SCEI
B30101 D341110
M64
2H629400

This silver ps2 was purchased on 12/11/2003 - the other ps2 was purchased two weeks prior to the silver but is not in my possession (i'll get it later in the week.). oh forgot to ad my email is nickval@mail.com
